Question about Goodman Air Conditioners

GOODMAN CMA80905CXBA FURNACE. INDUCTION BLOWER NOT ENERGIZING. GETTING 3 "BLINKS" FROM DIAGNOSTIC LIGHT (LOW PRESSURE SWITCH OPEN). THE A/C WORKS & THE BLOWER FAN COMES ON WHEN THE STAT IS IN THE HEAT MODE WITH THE FAN SWITCH ON. WHILE THE FAN IS ON , THE DIAGNOSTIC LED STILL BLINKS A CODE OF 3. THIS IS NOT A CONDENSING FURNACE. I BYPASSED THE STAT (W & R)TWISTED TOGETHER---SAME RESULT---DIAG LED COMES ON STEADY, THEN FOUR CLICKS, AND BACK TO THE CODE OF 3 BLINKS. CIRCUIT BOARD???? OR 120VAC NOT REACHING THE INDUCTOR FAN?? BATTERIES FRESH IN STAT. HEAT WAS FINE LAST WINTER---INSTALLED A/C MAY 08. THAT WORKED FINE. NOW NEED HEAT AND THIS HAPPENS. HIGHLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP. FYI...THE A/C IS GOODMAN ALSO. ALL PURCHASED AT THE SAME TIME, LATE SEP 07. DIDNT INSTALL A/C THEN BECAUSE WEATHER WAS SOON TO CHANGE.

gonna try RIGHT NOW! Thanx for your thoughtful response.

Tried it. Nothing. I thought the darft motor has to come on first to close the switch. The draft motor isn't coming on.

The pressure switch is closed before the draft motor closes it.the board is telling you that this is not right.pull the wire(either) off of the pressure switch to see if furnace tries to light.if it does, you should replace the pressure switch.

Induction motor runs/no ignition/red light on

If inducer run and igniter is not come on. 1) check igniter for any damage. 2) check pressure switch to make it close as soon as the inducer run. if it not close check the small tube that connect to it for any restriction( mostly inside the inducer compartment) clear it and restart the unit.

Furnace will not ignite.

I think you are talking about draft induction pressure switch operation. Make sure the metal orifice located on the draft induction blower is clear. To check, remove the rubber tubing end at the pressure switch and blow into the tubing. It should be easy to blow through it. If it is plugged, remove the tubing from the blower orfice and use a paperclip, inserting it into the orfice to clear the opening. After repairing, and all is hooked up, retry the furnace start up procedure. If the code comes up again, replace the pressure switch.

My central heating is on lockout and the burner is with red light

A sampling of various codes on a furnace

Read one LED flash that stays on continuously to mean your furnace has no signal coming from the thermostat and will not operate. Turn the power off and check the thermostat for improper settings or connections.

Interpret one LED flash that blinks on and off to mean your furnace has locked out because it could not ignite after three tries, and must be reset. Interrupt power to your furnace for 20 seconds or lower the thermostat so your furnace does not try to heat, then reset the thermostat to the previous setting. After one hour of lockout, your furnace will automatically reset itself and try to operate as usual.

Decipher two LED flashes to mean the draft blower is not working, or your furnace has a short in the pressure switch circuit. Turn off the furnace power and repair a short or replace the pressure switch.

Read three LED flashes to mean your furnace has an open pressure switch circuit or it has an induced draft blower operating. Check the pressure switch hose of your furnace for blocks or an improper connection. Also, look for blockages in the flue, and tighten any loose wiring.

Translate four LED flashes to mean your furnace has a primary limit circuit open, possibly from loose wiring or blocked filters. Check and clean filters, tighten wiring and check the flue for blockages.

Interpret five LED flashes to mean your Goodman furnace senses a flame without a call for heat. This could be from a gas valve closing slowly or a burner flame lingering.

Read seven LED flashes as a warning of a low flame sense microamp signal. This could happen with a coated flame sensor or a lazy flame from poor gas pressure. Turn off the power and adjust the gas pressure according to the information on the rating plate.

See eight LED flashes as meaning an igniter circuit problem due to a bad igniter or an igniter connected improperly. Replace the bad igniter or check the ground wiring, making necessary corrections.

Decipher nine LED flashes to mean the high-stage pressure switch circuit will not close during a high-stage-induced draft blower operation. Your furnace may have a pinched or blocked pressure switch hose, a blocked flue or loose wiring.

Read continuous flashing on the LED to mean your furnace has a reversed polarity of 115 volts. Turn off the power and correct the wiring polarity after reviewing the wiring diagram.

Goodman GMP125-5 limit switch open

There may be as many as 6 limit switches on the furnace. The first thing to do is turn off the power to the furnace. Look around the burner box. You will see possibly 3 small maybe brown plastic swithes with two wires to each and a button between the wires. Press the button on each one. If it clicks that's the one tripped. There may also be the same kind of switch(s) in the blower compartment. There's a self resetting limit on the middle of the furnace it also has two wires but looks like a black or dark brown plate about 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches. You have to check that one with an ohm meter. If any of these switches are tripped there is a reason. Check your filter and overall air flow. with low airflow the furnace may overheat. The switches around the burner box are roll out switches. Watch to see if flames are coming out of the burner area. especially when the blower comes on. DO NOT bypass any of these switches. Call a certified tech. to check it out.

Goodman: My Power Venter (aka Heat and Draft Inducer) won't start

The power ventor most likely needs to be replaced. But be advised. Goodman normally will not sell parts to anyone but a certified technician. I had to show my masters certificate to buy parts from their outlet. This is a part that has a high rate of failure.

Goodman GMS90904CXA Wont ignite, light blinks 3 times

I had the same problem, I had to remove the lower black rubber stopper right next to the exaust fan and hook up a drain to the unit, as soon as the water drained out the furnace fired right up.
