Your CD ROM has probably lost power. Most CD manufacturers have a small hole in the front of the CD Drive. Power down your PC. Take a paper cip and straighten it out. Push the paperclip into the hole until the CD pops open.

Tip

Create a Shortcut or Hotkey to Eject the CD/DVD Drive

Create a Shortcut to Eject the CD/DVD Drive
Right-click on the desktop or elsewhere and choose New \ Shortcut.
In the location box, put the full path to the nircmd.exe file that you downloaded, and append the "cdrom open" command to the end of it, adjusting the drive letter to match your disc drive:
"C:\path\to\nircmd.exe" cdrom open D:
Note the location of the quotes.. if you are using a path with spaces in it, you need to make sure the quotes are only around the path to the executable, and the arguments should be placed after the quote.
Give the shortcut a meaningful name, like Eject CD or something like that, and you'll have a new icon (read below on how to use the cd-rom icon as shown)
Create a Shortcut to Close the CD/DVD Drive
You can follow the same exact instructions as above, but instead of "cdrom open" just substitute "cdrom close".
Assign a Hotkey to the Shortcut
Now that we have a shortcut, we can assign a hotkey to the shortcut by right-clicking on the icon and choosing Properties. On the Shortcut tab you'll see a place to assign the Shortcut key:

Just bought a new stationary packard bell imedia. can't find the way to open the cd drive ? no button or nothing...how do you open this?

Depending on the OS you use it can be opened fairly easily. If you're using Windows XP or higher (I think) then just click on My computer. Then right click your cd drive. Should be an eject selection that will open the cd player. As for the physical button Im not sure where it would be located but sometimes they place them on the keyboard.

Dear sir i have a compaq prsario desk top having vertival mounted cd drive. i tried to load small cd on this but it got stuck and cd drive is partially opening and the cd is not coming out. wat am i todo?

place the computer in a position in which the tray will be horizontal ..after that take a look near the tray it is a hole in which a sharp object inserted will open the tray manually ..in case it is not opening from the eject ...and remove the disk ..
if the disk will not remove ...turn the computer upside down but the tray to be in same horizontal position ..This happens cause the disk is not staying in place .....and the tray being in horizontal position and upside down..the disk will come out when the tray is opened

How to play a cd

Hello,

Usually the DVD drive or the CD drive has a very small button on the front side of the Drive, if you see a button press it, the tray will come out and you will be able to put the cd on the tray and than press that button again it will take the cd in and will play for you.

However if you feel that difficult, try doing this,
simply go to MY COMPUTER, there you can see your dvd-drive or cd-drive, you can right click on the drive and click on "eject" it will eject the tray just like a normal dvd or cd player and you can insert the disc to play.

if there is anything else i can help you with please let me know.

Thank you.

CD Drive Opens With Difficulty

Hey, you may have damaged the gears when you used the paperclip. There isn't much you can do besides replacing the cd drive. You can pick one up at office supply stores or some walmarts.
