You can, but I wouldn't advise it. Won't sound that great, your probably going to overheat your amp. It may go into protect mode. You need a bigger amp.

Is it the XTR 154? Or XTR pro 152?

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2011

You need at least a 500 watt mono block for 154. If you have the 152 pro you need at least 800 watts to push it

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2011

And your very welcome sugar :)

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2011

i wasnt sure so i looked it up by comparison and it says its a xtr 15d idk it just says orion xtr 15 on the actual woofer

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2011

Since you say its 500 watts I'm going to assume its the 154. I'm not sure if it was you or not but did you post a question about wattage? Your amp says 500 but only puts out around 250, you have to keep I mind your amp is the way, only putting out a percentage of what it says of constant power

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2011

i kno nothin about this it came with my car as well as the amp.. tryna learn more about it before i begin setting it up

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2011

I meant your sub says 500 watts, my apologies :)

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2011

    yea it was me

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2011

For sure, its good to do a little research. Don't want to damage anything.

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2011

its good thanks for the help...what brand would u recommend for best quality

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2011

I would go with fosgate, alpine, kicker etc... something better quality with a truer power. Make sure its mono block. But don't go over 600 watts, or you may damage your sub

I have 2 15'' CVRs and a 1200w amp

1 OHM...ONE... sheesh now thats a low resistance for anything... If they are only 500 watts and they are in parallel, series well NO.. your amp puts out wayyyy too much for those speakers.. 1200w versus 500 watts by 2... srill NOT enough "Head room" for it to be safe... about half is all you could expect before Pop.. sound is heard.

Wiring diagram

Hello rivertoyz,

If your F250 has the stock radio, there are no preamp outputs, so you will need to use the speaker outputs. The best solution would be to wire a LOC (line output converter) to the rear channels and run RCA cables to the amp.

Speaker wire color code:

Left rear positive - Gray/Light Blue
Left rear negative - Tan/Yellow
Right rear positive - Orange/Red
Right rear negative - Brown/Pink

You'll need an amp wiring kit with 4gauge power and ground. Both the LOC and wiring kits are available at numerous online stores. The best service is from www.crutchfield.com. Another reputable online seller is www.sonicelectronix.com.

You did not say what subwoofer(s) you intend to use with the amp. If you want to stick with the Maxxsonics product, a pair of 10" Orion HP10D2's would be an excellent match. Wire each of the subs dual voice coils in series for 4ohms, then parallel them to the amp for a final load of 2ohms. Both of the linked retailers above sell the Orion's and many other brands as well. Just make sure that your sub selection has adequate power handling capability. At least 1000 watts RMS if you use a single sub and 500 watts RMS if you go with 2.

Hope this helps.

Amp makes noise. I am purchaseing a new amp

Hello termite440,

A mono amp will generally provide more power for subs. And for those Audiobahn's, you'll want something that will provide a minimum of 500-600 watts RMS to each, a least a 1000 watt amp. At the low end, something like the Alpine MRP-M1000 or the Orion HCCA-D2400 will provide 1000-1200 watts. I'd recommend the Alpine. For more power, and another $100, look at the Alpine M2000, or for another $250, the Rockford-Fosgate T1500-1bd.

Hope this helps.

Orion xtr15 to a american leagacy la 660 amp

your only choice is to run the amplifier at a 4 ohm mono load - this will not reult in the amplifier making much power.
Positive on sub to Positive on amp.
Negative on sub to Negative on amp.
This is your only possibility.

Adding a second sub in the same fashion will result in a 2 ohm load, and your amplifier will run at its rated potential.

How to wire 2 dvc subs to a orion 2150sx ? dont know the wire colors or how to hook um to my amp.

what impedence are the voicecoils?
Dual 4 - Dual 2 - Dual 1 ??

Orion SX / GS / HCCA amp Wiring guide:

Orange = Right Positive
Black/ Orange = Right Negative
Yellow = Left Positive
Black/ Yellow = Left Negative
Blue = 1+1

Bridging of SX or HCCA Amps:
1. Use the Orange wire for Positive.
2 Use the Black/ Yellow wire for Negative
3. Push "in" the Mono Button
That amplifier is only 4ohm mono stable - so assuming the subs are dual 4 ohm voicecoils...

First wire both in Parallel Independently So each subwoofer is now a 2 ohm load. (combine + and + - and- on both subwoofers)

Now Take a positive on one voicecoil of sub #1 and attach to amplifier+(orange)

Take a - on that same subwoofer and attach it to a + on the OTHER subwoofer.

Finally, take a - from the second woofer to the amplifier -(black/yellow)

Now you have a 4 ohm load on your bridged channels.
