Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet

Toshiba laptop running Vista loses connectivity

I have a brand new, Toshiba L305-S5891 laptop. O/S is Vista Home Premium. Wireless card is Atheros AR5007EG. Router is Netgear WNR545T. Laptop connects to home wireless but lose its IP address. Tray icon says still connected but no connectivity to internet. Resetting IP address restores connection. Have updated firmware in router and tried various setting. Selected mixed mode a/b/g/n and set MTU to 1400. Toshiba support link say I have latest driver.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. About ready to install XP Pro althogh Toshiba support swears i won;t have the drivers I need.

I tired one last upgrade of the firmware from Netgear and still no luck. I went out and bought a Linksys WRT160N and everything is great. (Yes, Walmart does carry them) One added benefit, it is extremely easy to create a static IP address for an attached device with the Linksys router. I have a netwroked printer and anytime my power hiccups, I end up with a new IP for the printer which requires a visit to every PC using my home network. This is a total of 4 laptops. So having the ability to easily prevent this is a great plus.

Now I need to figure out what to do with a Netgeat WNR545T router that is less than six months old.

The problem is not Vista, the problem is the Netgear. I have seen this happen time and time again with both Netgear (primarily) and D-Link (often). That's why I *only* recommend Linksys.

Worst case - go buy one from Walmart (yes, they have 'em). Hook it up and see the difference. If, somehow, the problem persists, take it back, and you've lost nothing. But I'd bet (as they say down here in the South "dollars to doughnuts") that's your problem :)

Hope this helps - remember to rate :)

I suggest you try the shortest screw in a hole first, if it does not work then try the next longer screw and if this does not work then the longest screw.

Dell Inspiron 1525 not connecting wirelessly to Sky broadband

If your wireless router is configured with SSID, encryption, MAC address filtering (if enabled) etc. then the Dell wireless card needs to be configured with these settings to allow it to communicate with the wireless router.
Check the settings on your PC's wireless settings, and configure the Dell the same way.

Blue screen after clean install on Satellite L305-S5891 hd prob

wont allow formatting or deleteing of partitions.. check the bios and turn off boot sector protection.

to enter bios look at your screen when you turn the power on, it will say generally on one of the corners of the screen what button to press in order to enter bios to change the settings.

after that is turned off, try reinstalling again.

if the same problem is still there, try to replace the hard drive and see if the problem dissappears, could be a fault yhard drive.

Lan and wireless driver for toshiba a135-s2246

Unfortunately, the Toshiba Satelite A135-S2246 was never designed to run XP, only Vista. Which is why you can't find any drivers for XP. The nearest you can get is to find a laptop running XP SP2 that is using the same LAN (ethernet controller) and WLAN (wireless ethernet controller), and see if they will work.

Here are the drivers I found for XP (please check which one's you are trying to install):

Atheros WiFi card driver:
http://www.wireless-driver.com/download/atheros/2007-7-23/Atheros-ar5bxb6-AR5424-mini-PCI-E-Wireless-Card-Driver-Download.htm

Intel WiFi card driver:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
You will need to search for the card that you have.

LAN (ethernet controller):
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=6&PFid=6&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#1
You can pick third or fourth from top depending on your preference.

Please remember that Toshiba, Microsoft, Atheros, Realtek, Intel and especially myself accept no responsibilty for what may, or may not happen when installing drivers not specifically designed for your system. All that said, I hope it works for you.
