Question about Plustek OpticFilm 7200i Film Scanner

Hunting negative holder tray for Plustek 7200, can't find one anywhere

I have this scanner and it works great, but somehow the negative strip holder has been abducted by aliens or gone into an alternate universe, and I need to find anohter one to be able to scan negatives. I see lots of places that sell these things, but nobody seems to have any extra trays that mount the slides so they can be fed into the scanner. Any ideas as to someplace that has such items? Thank you......Enforcer57

It's possible you have physically damaged it but not certain. One old engineers trick to reset anything microchip based is to unplug the device, both power and connection cable, and hold down the power/on button for 30 seconds (time it as it seems to take forever when you are waiting) this will discharge any static and reset the chip-set to defaults. With that done completely reinsert reinsert the negative tray/holder *before* reconnecting power and test it. No guaranties at this point but defiantly the place to start. Message back if this is no help.

My scanner sometimes crops a particular slide but not others. Some scan ok. What is going on?

Be sure to put the slide in the holder in the proper direction. The opening in the slide holder is rectangular, not square like the slide. If you place the slide in the holder horizontally and the holder window is vertical, it will crop off the sides of your picture.

Negatives scan as negatives and not as pictures with the plustek 7300

In the Twain driver for your intellscan, there should be a selection for the type of scan. It should be set to "black & White Negative" or "Color Negative". The program you use to edit the scanned file should be able to change it to a positive if the scanned result is still negative. Programs such as Photoshop, Paint shop Pro etc can use Twain to have the scanner scan directly into them. There the phot (negative) can be edited and saved.
