Question about Sony KP-57WS500 57" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

"video" letters/number on screen

I just inherited this television from the in-laws and they don't have the original remote and I cannot get the "video 5" or whatever video setting it is on off of the top left of the screen. Any advice, i have tried everything I can think of.

Hi,
You need original Sony TV remote to disappear on-screen display by pressing Display button on that remote.
Tip: You can try any Sony TV remote to fix this problem. Borrow a remote from friends, neighbors like that.

Sony kd32dx150u no remote

get the original remote, some other Sony remotes may work, but the original would be best, try to Google the model number to get the number for the original remote which should be a RM- number and look on EBAY etc for one used.

Need tv code, tv is locked

Hello,

Turn on the TV and grab the remote. In most cases, you will need the original remote to unlock the TV if you aren't sure of the unlock code. If you don't have the original remote, you will need to purchase one.
2
Look at the screen. If you see a blank screen with a red key on the bottom of the screen, press 'Function' and 'Mute' at the same time. This should unlock the channel. This is an option for people who want the TV to stay locked but, want to be able to bypass the lock to watch a certain show or channel. All other channels will remain locked and the TV will fully lock when it is turned off.
3
Unlock all of the channels on the TV by entering the factory reset code. There are three main reset codes that TV manufacturers set. These are 0711, 6688 and 3308. Try each one until you find the one that works. This will reset the TV to original factory settings. When you do this, you will loose any information that you have stored in the TV, such as favorite channels, automatic timers and the clock. You will have to go through the full initial set up.
4
Call the technical support service number in your owner's manual if none of those codes work. A technician can help you troubleshoot the television because the problem may not be the locking control. When you call, make sure that you have the model number and serial number of the TV.
5
Take your television to a TV repair shop. In some cases, a professional who access to wiring diagrams for your television set may have to rewire certain components in order for the television to unlock. This is usually the case when the TV locks by itself while it is on.

Also note that forgotten the passcode of your Mitsubishi TV. You can make it alive without knowing the passcode. Please follow
V_Chip lock bypassing prodedure is as follows
You can view your locked TV, cancel the lock, or enter the V_chip lock menus.

This is done by pressing the number "9" and "QV" buttons on the remote TV control at the same time, when your passcode is requested. This process temporarily unlocks the TV.
When entering the V_Chip lock menu, this process deletes your old passcode and prompts you to enter a new passcode.

I hope this will help to solve the problem...

Recieved a tv from a place that used it for video display. the audio was never on. I turn the volume all the way up, but I get no sound. I was wondering if the solution could be that it's on mute, and...

It is most likely in demo mode or internal speakers set to off in the AUDIO menu. (if MUTE does not appear on the screen.)
Without an exact model number it is impossible to tell.
Check the on-screen audio menu for enabling/disabling on board speakers. (you should be able to access this from the front panel)
You should look into getting a replacement remote - as most programming, convergence, and service menus can only be accessed with an original remote.

Please reply using "continue with this expert" so we are connected in the future and include the model number.

Thanks for using FixYA!!

Thanks !!

Playing Games

It you plug your video games into one of the inputs in the back or the front, you need the original remote that switches between the video inputs. Most of the universal remotes does not have this function so your best bet is to order the correct remote from Hitachi or part store. You may try the Logitech universal remote which may have the video input selector but not sure.

I have a 57x500 Hitachi ultravision digital t,v,.....When we try to watch DVD Movies or vhs,the screen has the dark side bars on the side,,how do adjust the screen to make the movies fit on the screen so...

On your remote there should be a button that says "Aspect" or "Pic Size". Press thisuntil the video fills the screen. If you do not have the remote of don't have the original remote, this setting can be found by preesing the menu button on the tv, go down to video settings and it should be listed under "Aspect Ratio", change it untill the video fills the screen.
