You would need to configure your netgear router to accpect trasfers from a multimedia device like psp. and also psp can only support only WPA-PSK (TKIP) Encryption.
Please Follow the below steps to do the same.(please perform the steps in a already connected device like a laptop or a desktop using a Wi-Fi Card.
Step One: open the web browser in your computerthe laand type http://www.routerlogin.net/ or http://192.168.1.1/.
Step Five: it would ask you for username and password. enter Username : admin and Password : password .
Step Six : Confiuring the router.
1) please avoid setup wizard and confure it manually and follow the steps below.
2) you would need to click on left frame buttons for the confgration to come on the right side.
3) On the right menu now click on wireless settings in the setup section.
a) set security option as WPA-PSK the third option.
give a password like "abcde12345" should be 10 charactes and alpha-numerical. ( This option is to make your Wi-Fi more secure and to avoid unauthorized access. Key lifetime : 60minutes
then click Click "Apply"
5) Now on the right menu goto advanced tab and click on UPnP(Universal Plug and Play Devices)
a) Check on Turn UPnP On.
Then Click "Apply".
Router Config Done..Now on the right side click in "Logout" (bottom most option)
after the router logout is done close the web browser and remove the network cable and the the power cable from the router.
Post Configring Steps :
a) Swich off the dsl modem.
b) plug the dsl cable to the internet jack in the router.
c) plug in the router power cable back to switch on the router.
d) Switch on the DSL Modem.
Wait for 15 Seconds.
Connect to you wireless netowrk using you psp and provide the WPA-PSK - TKIP passord which you had given in router for preventing unauhorized access.
Bingo !! you are connected...and more secure.

When yuour question starts with I have a brand new MAC, probably not.
The default address on a routher is 192.168.1.1 We set them up by plugging a network cable into one of the 4 ports (not WAN) and setting the address of our computer to 192.168.1.x where x is greater than 1 and less than 255. THen we open up Internet Explorer and key in 192.168.1.1 into the address line.
After that, the router will go into quick configure and set itself up, or you can try www.routerlogin.com if you're on the same domain in the network.
The "jargon" your ISP will give you is how the router needs to be provisioned. You may have DNS servers, whether it's DHCP or if you have DSL, typically you need to set PPoE stuff up. With good luck, the auto configure will do all of the things you need.
Now you just have to figure out how to make the MAC change its TCP-IP address :-)

Try the Following steps:-
1)first of all to go online on any laptop we need the wireless setting's . If you are not aware then create one by using any pc which has the internet access wired or wireless from the router and open the IE or browser window and in the address bar type http://192.168.1.1 or http://routerlogin.net/ ,
2)A small window will prompt up which will ask you to type the user name and password which will be
and then left click on log-in.
Once you will left click on log-in it will navigate you to the router's administrator page.
3)On the left hand side you will have the blue/purple column in their under the category you set-up you will see a sub-title wireless setting's, left click on that option and then do the setting's.This link will guide you how to do that:-
1)Click on the apple icon on the left hand side of the start screen and go to system preferences.
2)Under system preferences a category name internet and network select the title network from there.
3)Under Network you will have an option for airport to turn it ON so do that and then below you will see list of networks available , from that list select the network you created , enter the password if it's secure one and you will be good to go from ther on and will have an internet access.
