If the main fuse still good, next step should be to measure the secondary voltages and low voltage as well, check the HOT transistor. If the HOT test OK, and voltages seems to be measuring good; there could be a defective FBT on your TV.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

RCA, CRT Projection TV, ITC222 chassis Faults - models D52W.., D40W.., D56W.., D61W..
· Symptom: No Convergence, Picture is bowed and distorted, colors don’t align.
The Fuse for the convergence power supply has blown
You'll also notice that the convergence settings have disappeared from the on screen menu. The fuse likely blew because of a fault on the convergence board. If you've never done soldering or dismantled a TV before this is probably not the best place to start. The back cover needs to be removed and the fuse (see picture) identified, the deflection/power supply board needs to be unplugged (label or mark all connectors beforehand) and flipped over and the fuse checked/replaced. You need a soldering iron and solder ****** or solder wick and a multi-meter to check the fuse. If you want to tackle it yourself see attached image for reference or get a quote from a repair shop (approx $200-$300 Total) the convergence board may also need repair.

  • Symptom: Dead Set - TV Tries to Start or intermittent dead.

The set could be in shut down mode due to a fault detected in the power supply, vertical or horizontal deflection circuits.
The common problems with this chassis that will cause a dead set or intermittent dead set symptom are, bad power supply capacitors, bad flyback, bad HV cap in horizontal output circuit and cold solders (on opposite side of board) especially under the flyback area. To gain access to replace any of these parts the back cover needs to be removed and the deflection/power supply board needs to be unplugged (label or mark all connectors beforehand) and flipped over.
These are only the most common problems and it could be any number of other faults.
If you have electronic (TV) repair experience check the items mentioned (see picture), otherwise it's best to seek a qualified RCA tech for an estimate/service call.

· Symptom: Erratic operation of set – turns off by self, the volume or channel changes by self or on screen menu appears intermittently.

Switches on the front panel assembly (FPA) problem.
What happens with this model is the FPA switches (one or more) start to conduct just as if someone was pressing the buttons. This in effect locks up the system control or causes it to initiate erratic commands.
The way to determine if the FPA is bad is to remove it by unplugging from set. This requires front panel disassembly.
Note: The remote will still work with the FPA removed so the set can be tested.

Hope this helped, johnnydiode, Fixya.

Hi William,

If your problem is a continuous green blinking led light and will not turn on, this is an indication that the DM of your unit try but hasn't booted up and stuck to this fault.
If you have checked fine the fuses on the DM power supply board, you have to check/replaced also the electrolytic capacitors on that board.

11_1_2011_12_36_04_am.jpg

www.tvrepairkits.com has a repair kit for your unit (DM power supply board) that includes these parts.

If you've already replaced the capacitors on that board but still the symptoms still persist, I would advice you to check/replaced the capacitors on the power supply board feeding the DM power supply board. Check also the pico fuses and bad solder joints (cracked, cold, dried solder). Resolder the joints that look suspicious.
Yes, your model has no complete schematic diagram downloadable online. I have a copy of the repair manual that includes the schematic but not a complete one. The power supply's schematic shows only the major parts and the output voltages of the board. Same as on the DM's power supply.
Email me at jimvincentvillanueva@yahoo.com, I will send you the copy of the repair manual.

TV wont turn On, standby light blinking 3 times, Help !!!

Hello,

Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Good luck in solving the problem...

I have a 1999 RCA TV model # P52921. It completely shut down. It has no sound and picture. I checked the fuse with my tester and there is power coming out of the fuse. I hear a slight, faint, pulsating...

Check SMPS power supply. DC voltages. First check the power supply
bridge/ diodes. Then check DC votage should be 70% rating of the
capacitor voltage. If the capacitor is dry it will show low voltage.

But the diodes should be OK. Check the high wattage resistors
connected in the power supply. There will be a resistor in the
ac input also. Beyond this check all +DC voltages.

When i turn the television on the green light goes off after a few seconds

Your television is protecting itself from further damage and that is why the television is shutting itself down. When you remove the back panel of the television with the power supply unplugged from the wall, you will see a black box which looks like a distributor on the board. You will need to remove that board and look underneath at the soldered connection points of the transformer. RCA went to a lead free solder and the solder is known to crack. desolder and re solder the transformer using either desoldering braid or a desoldering iron and resoldering using silver solder and a pencil soldering iron no bigger than 35watts. After you do that check the 3 fuses next to the transformer using a multimeter. You have a blown fuse. Order the fuse from Partstore.com and replace it.

MODEL R61WH76 NO CONVERGENCE FL231 OPEN REPLACEDIT AND SET IS WENT DEAD

Check the flyback transformer that is right next to the fuse. Look for solder "rings" (poor solder connections) resolder those then make sure something didn't come unplugged. That fuse usually pops because of the bad solder connections in the first place. I have seen tvs not come on as a result of these bad connections. Also you might check the solder connection on the replacement fuse make sure there are no solder bridges shorting anything. Just replacing that fuse shouldnot cause it not to come on. good luck

Go to menu ,now to setup when in set up do you see convergence? If convergence is missing in menu it is a open fuse, only it does not look like fuse ,They look more like small square capaitors brown, they will be right next to flyback transfomer FL231 (3) of them in a roll it will be the middle one,you can take needle nose plyers and pull top up on fuses.

I attempted a repair

There is no pico fuses in that model that can be affected by the convergence circuits. You can scratch the trace and attach solder to it. Thats usually not the best way to do it as its susseptable to becoming dislodged. pico fuses are usually identified with FL (fusable Link) in the part location, just test them with an ohms meter for continuity in circuit.

TV - worth fixing or pitch?

Horizontal output and regulator transistor often short out on this model causing a dead condition. Also the resistor right next to the regulators goes open as well. Electronix.com has a sony repair kit to fix the power supply. You just have to check the numbers on your Horizontal output transistor to make sure you get the right kit for your model.
