Question about Canon PowerShot SD750 / IXUS 75 Digital Camera

1 Answer

IXUS 80 can you help...photos won't download.."COMMUNICATION ERROR"

I turn the camera on while connected to my computer with the switch in display mode and the last photo is displayed on the screen with a box at the bottom saying COMMUNICATION ERROR. It was working perfectly yesterday. I am recharging its battery now but doubt that's the problem as I didn't take many photos today and the battery was fully charged. I tried a different cable but same result.

Found the answer- too many images on the camera...deleted a bunch...all is OK now. Cheers

I had too many images still on the camera's memory card - the limit is 999 for the computer to be able to download the latest- the solution wasn't easy to locate and in fact I stumbled across it while flipping through the user manual - it was under a listing of error messages.

Thank you for these alternative possibilities.

    Cheers

This can be due to various reasons
1)The driver is corrupted: The camera's drivermay be corrupted. Uninstall the driver and any software and then connect the camera to the PC and then re-install the software.
OR
2)The USB cable might be faulty. Remove the memory card from the cam and try using a USB card reader(You can get one for 5$) and see if works. If it does may be then its time to buy a new USB cable for your cam.
3)Last but not least the cam's firware may been corrupted. Its pretty easy to flash the firmware so we can try it. Let me know if the above solutions worked or not so that we can try the firmware update

Communication error

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I connected my cable to transfer pictures from my canon 100 ixus but it showed connection error. What does it means?

Troubleshooting the camera displaying Communication Error when connected to the computer via USB. If the camera displays "Communication Error," when trying to download images the main cause for this error is that there are more than 1000 images stored on the memory card. It is recommended if there are more than 1000 images on the memory card, that you use a card reader to acquire the images, or to delete images off of the memory so that there are less than 1000 images to download from the memory card.
If this is not the case, there are not 1000 or more images on the memory card, try reconnecting the camera to abnother port on the computer, try another cable or another computer. This error can also display when connecting to a direct print printer. Please check with the printer manufacturer for more information on this error.
