What is the difference between independent and dependent variable

Independent means that it does not depend on, does not rely on, is not affected by anything. A dependent variable is a variable is affected by some other variable. If. the independent variable happens to change its value, the dependent variable must comply and change also according to the rule that connects the two variables.
An example of independent variable is time. It runs its course, not affected by anything else.
Maybe a money example will be more transparent.
Suppose you have a part-time job to support you in your studies. In a part-time job, the number of weekly work hours is not fixed in advance. Some weeks you are relatively free and can work more hours. Other weeks you have exams and can't do as much.

Let us consider the situation: your weekly salary. You understand that your weekly salary will vary in relation to the total number of hours you work during a given week. The more you work, the more you earn. The less you work, the less you earn.
Clearly there is a link between the number of work hours, and the weekly salary. You have two quantities that vary from week to week. They vary: so they are called variables (variable= capable of varying/changing its value).
The two variables are x= number of hours worked in a given week, and y= weekly salary earned in the same given week.
You and only you can decide of your own free will on the number of hours you will work that week. However, once you choose/decide how many hours you will work, your salary is calculated according to a set rule your boss and yourself had agreed to.
Of the two variables in the situation describing you weekly salary, the number x of hours worked is the independent variable. The weekly salary y is the dependent variable: the amount of money you get depends on/ is decided by the number of hours you worked.

Please use a dictionary to see the meaning of the verb to depend on, and the adjectives dependent, independent.

Describe casio fx-991 es battery replacement

Ah! that perennial desire for eternity. The calculator uses solar power. It also have a battery. Under normal circumstances you won't need a battery, may be if you are living through a long Nuclear Winter.
Any way, just get a battery with the same characteristics as the one that shipped with the calculator: voltage, thickness, diameter. That is what counts.

How do i check the battery life of the calculator?

The life of the batteries depend on the use. If calculator is on and running programs 24 hours a day, the batteries will not last more that 2 or 3 days. If you use it the calculator for 2 hours a day, fresh batteries may last a semester.
But I believe you want to check the CURRENT state of the batteries. You can buy from an electronic store or a dollar store a device that tells you if a battery is still good or not.
With the TI Connect software you can check battery status. See the screen capture that follows. To obtain the displayed window you must click the button DeviceInfo with calculator connected to the computer and TI Connect running.

My TI-84 has been used for one year already. I thought it was dead but when I inserted new batteries it started working again. I was lucky to have it work for just over a day and it died less than a day...

This could have been caused by damage from the previous owner but, most electronics have a certain life-span that no amout of batteries can help.
I too had a TI-84 silver edition, and one day it no longer worked. I don't believe there is any solution to this problem. My advice is to simply get another one new.

HAve to change batteries too often

Do you play games normally? This will run down your batteries like crazy! You could also do a search on and find a program which tells you your battery life.

Another idea is to ge more powerful batteries such as Energizer or duracell. Cheap runs will not have as much of a chage.

Hop this fixes our problem!

Black-Screen/Black-Pixel Fix for TI-Calculator

This will erase all memory and reset defaults.

1. Remove 1 AAA Battery
2. Press and Hold 'ON' for 30 seconds
3. Replace AAA Battery
4. Adjust Contrast to appropriate level

If this fails, try again with ALL Batteries removed including
the backup Lithium Battery.

If all else fails, try the following reset procedure:

1. Remove ALL Batteries (inc. Backup)
2. Let Calculator sit with no batteries for 2~4 hours.
3. Hold 'ON' for 30 seconds.
4. Replace all the batteries (May be good idea to use new batteries
just in case old ones were dead)
5. Turn on Calculator
6. Change Contrast to appropriate level

- Remember to use correct batteries or calculator may not work. The
correct batteries are Alkaline, Rechargable Batteries are TOO WEAK,
Heavy Duty batteries are TOO STRONG.

Also, one friend had a similar problem regarding to the fozen calculator... I fixed it by reading in the manual that it can be reset!!!...There is a combination of keys that you can press to reset the calculator...this obligates the calculator to load the OS from the EPROM memory where is this basic sofware!!!... If I do not remember wrong the keys are: 2nd + Lock + on/off keys!!! But try to look for the manual and in some part of it is those key combination!!! Good Luck!
