Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
We bought a brand new guitar hero for ps2. Our ps2 was new Dec. 2007. Disc could not be read so we exchanged Guitar Hero for a new one. (Our ps2 reads all of our other ps2 games) The new Guitar Hero CD cannot be read either. A friend told us to try it on a different ps2. We borrowed an older version ps2 and it works fine. We can't figure out what the difference is.
Theres a difference in the older guitar hero games and newer ones, CD Rom for the older and DVD Rom for the newer, Ps2 wont read the DVD Rom ones, my experiance so far.

Not so, the old playstation 2's (the chunky ones) have a defective lazer on them, so if you insert a blue disc the lazer will actually go through the disc and not even realise the disc is there in the first place.
the blue discs were just a cheap way to make copies of a game from the production standards, sony updated the lazer on the newer models of the chunky ps2 but that caused problems for some of the silver bottomed discs to be read.
your best option is to buy a slimline playstation 2, but sometimes they also have the old lazers in them too. its trial and error really.
hope this helps

There is no difference basically and your ps2 should read any ps2 or ps1 games regardless on how old or recent your console is. I believe you are still under a warranty try to have sony replace your ps2 because i am almost your its defective. the game works just fine its the console is probably defective.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
