You need to clarify :
1. Your printer cannot print color even though it prints color well from a test page;
2. Your printer cannot print color in a test print page.
If it is the first one, then you have to set it properly in Window Print Configuration page of that printer;
If it is the second one, then you have to check whether you have installed the color ink cartridge properly in the printer. If the color ink cartridge is installed properly, try to replace another new color ink cartridge. Finally it is still not work, then you have to bring back to the repair center.
The draw back of inkjet technology printers are, if it is not using quite long period of time,cartridge nozzles will dry up, result printer will act just like a printing some thing but nothing will come on paper(blank page) even ink levels are showing full. Try to recover the both cartridges through 'clean print cartridge' process from the system,if not better consult cartridge re-filler to clean the nozzles..Replace new cartridges if above said methods are not worked out.

I have the same problem. Everything on the printer is working just fine. It'll do a test page just fine, so everything's working right. The %$^ thing just won't print. It makes noise like it's printing when you give it a print job, but it spits out blank pages.
Doing the "clean printhead/cartridge nozzles" multiple times would have cleared clogged nozzles. You can also try to manually wipe the cartridge nozzles with a slightly moistened soft cloth. If that still won't help, try to replace your cartridge with a different known working cartridge to determine if your other cartridge is faulty.
I know your problem and i want to know that have you changed or refill your cartridge?.
if yes
place one plain paper in the tray.
it will print the test paper
print it and place it on the scanner with the printed side down.
press the scan button from the printer
printer will blink the light for some time and stop blinking
now it didn't print test print every time you print
Ok, first off, system specs:
- Windows XP Home SP2
- HP PSC 1*** (not sure) Inkjet Printer
In MS Office 2003, when you print a document, the printer spits out a
blank page. When I did a test page in the printer settings, the test
page printed perfectly fine. And pretty much any other non MS based
program prints (tested: AOL EMails/webpages [IE6]).
I reinstalled the drivers and checked for updates...all good. Restarted the PC with printer unplugged and vice-versa.
Try checking the ink cartridges and make sure they have ink in them or it will keep printing blank pages. Then try printing a test page by going to control panel, clicking on printers and faxes and right clicking on your printer and going to properties. Then go all the way down to the bottom of the page and click print test page. It will clean the printer cartridges and align them to print correctly. It should work after that.
