Wife hates black range top; any options?

they only make this range with a black "skin" on the cooktop part.
If you have food that has cooked onto the skin, you can pour some hot sudsy water into the "well" (black skin) as it is sumped, and will run away from the burner head.
let it sit for a few minutes to soften the food and then mop out with a sponge. Or you can spray easy off onto paper towel, put on the spot, leave for 30 mins, then wipe off with damp paper towel.
