You need administrative rights to get into the PBX. Once in there, you can assign which phones receive incoming calls. It has been years since I worked on the meridian system, so I can't tell you the way to do it, but it is in the manual. It's not complicated. You can also set it up for DAY/NIGHT mode so that in the evening, if required, all phones could ring on incoming calls so that anyone in the building can answer them.
First of all, make sure you're plugged into the headset port of the telephone and not the handset port. Pressing the Handsfree button should change from handset to headset. You can't use the speaker phone with the headset plugged in.
The two short rings is telling you that the call is either a transfered call (answered by someone else and transfered) or answered by an auto attendant and transfered. Watch the ringing phone when the call comes in and see if the intercom LED blinks.
Programming is done on M7310, M7324 and T7316 sets. To set up ringing you need to enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344. The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming. At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow). The display should now ask for an extension number. Enter extension number you wish to program ringing on. Press the show key (top right arrow) The display should sat LINE ACCESS Press the show key (top right arrow) . The display should say LINE ASSIGNMENT. Press the show key (top right arrow) . The display ask for a line number. press list The display should say line 001: appear & ring press the Chng key till it says appear only press next key (lower right arrow) The display should say line 002: appear & ring repeat the procedure the same as line 001 for the remaining ringing lines
The volume control adjusts the handset, hands free, headset, and ringer volume. Someone may have fiddled with the buttons and turned the ringer down enough that it doesn't sound when a call is incoming.
If the internal calls dont ring, then there is something with the extension. When a call is ringing the phone, press the UP VOLUME. Chances are that someone accidentally turned the ringer all the way down.
