Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

When I plug my tomtom into the computer all I get is a picture of the tomtom with cord, a hand holding the cord and a red X over the cord and it says "please wait". No matter how long I wait I don't get anything else. I would think that met that there was something wrong with the cord but is plugged in correctly.

You need to install the tomtom pc drivers and software onto your computer, the "please wait" means that its connected to the pc and waiting to be updated once its unplugged.

hope this helps

Hi Russ, I cant seem to remove the battery from the TomTom gps... :-( it also shows a picture with a red hand and a stripe across it (to say I shouldnt remove it)... what do I do now??

The battery in the TomTom GPS device is not (readily/easily) consumer removable - replaceable .. i.e. it is not like how you'd replace a battery in your digital camera.
Are you removing/replacing it because it no longer hold a charge ? If so, consider sending it to TomTom ... and they'll do it for you.
That red hand and a stripe across it is usually a warning ... that the GPS device has malfunctioned, e.g. the memory/software/data is corrupted/damaged.

My tomtom 125 won't install. When it turns on, the only screen it shows is a picture of the tom tom with a red circle with a white X in it. It seems to have install in tomtom home however.

At tomtom.com I found a link to download the new version of tomtom home. For some reason when I plugged in my tomtom to my computer it wanted to download an old version of home and that would not install the applications to my tomtom. After downloading the new version of tomtom home everything worked fine.

I upgraded the tomtom via tomtom home and it will not start

Hello,  I own a TomTom also. I have listed the procedures from TomTom Home and hope this will work. First try a soft reset (Reset button is located at the bottom of the TomTom device next to where the DC plug plugs in). Make sure your batteries are fully charged up or the USB cord is plugged in.

If your device is not starting up properly, follow the steps below:
  1. Soft reset your device. *

  2. If your device still does not start up, then reinstall the TomTom application using HOME
If you have backed up your TomTom to your computer, then you can reinstall the TomTom application from your backed up data. *    In rare cases, your TomTom device may not start correctly or may stop responding. If this happens, try resetting your device. A reset does not delete any data.
