Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

CD ROM I have a Toshiba Satellite A205 with Windows Vista Home Premium. I was going through and deleting uninstalling some programs. I think I accidently did something with the cd rom when deleting and uninstalling. If I put any kind of cd/dvd in the drive nothing will display. The door will still open and close normally. If I go into "my computer" the only thing that shows up is the C drive. I don't know what the problem is. I can go to "computer management" and find it there. It has a message saying "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available." I did a system restore and everything I can think of. I just can't figure out how to get it back. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Go to start--run--type devmgmt.msc it will take you to device manager.Hopefully you can see your Cd/DVD rom in there. So right click on it and press uninstall. Dont get scared you will get it again itself in next reboot.
IF you dont see it in there, it means there is something wrong with your drive or check if connections are loose or something
Hope it helps !!

Well both Chrome and open office you can uninstall then reinstall from downloads from the net.

Just make sure you back up your data to a separate medium first.

I need to get back in my OEM vista home premium

If you contact Toshiba, they can send you the original restore disks. If you are really nice to them, they might send them out for free.. I believe normally they do charge but they sent them to me for free a couple of years ago with my Toshiba laptop :)

Installing WIN XP SP2 in aToshiba Satellite A205-S7459 Vista original

you need to go at www.Toshiba.com and get a special driver. You need to check under support and drivers for your model.

What you do is you get the driver (depends if you a floppy otherwise burn the drive on a cd)

From Bios make the computer boot the computer from CD/DVD rom and then you need to pay attention when on the bottom of the screen it will say hit f6 if you have to install the special driver and then you can continue installation of windows.
