Open Office has been slow to develop a full version for Mac. Try Neo Office instead as it has a fully Mac-compatible version. The Open Office for mac is expected in a couple of months.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Free MS Word for Mac

I'm not sure you're going to get a free version of MSword, normally it comes with a COA.

In respect to Open Office, are you using the "Save as" option and saving as a MSword document with the .doc suffix ?

Is there a driver that I need to download before I can put ms office 2007 onto an IMac

This is a complicated deal you are in ... Seems you have a PC version of Office and a MAC computer. You have the Mac OS??? This can be made to work ... I might ask the question why do you want to do this?

A better deal might be to get the Mac version. Alternatives are divide your drive into two parts ... load XP or Vista on the partician ... (hey, where did my Mac go ;-( ... )

You might try Sun Open Office which is open source code ... free for the download. It does everything that Office does and maybe a little more.

Think about whata you are doing if you are considering a dual boot computer ... fun to have done (as in accomplished) ... not much fun to operate. And that is from a Amiga guy (me) who finally threw in the towell and went main stream.

Let me know what you decide.

Got a new imac moved ms office file to my book -

Hi,

Try to change the File system of the hard drive to FAT. It is currently in NTFS. Mac recognizes NTFS file system as read only. You must use the disc utility and format it with a volume format of MS DOS.

By changing it to MS DOS (FAT) you can use it with Mac and PC. Readable and writable.

No, Its a copyright (r) cd. Which obviously means you can't copy it. And if you did it would be illegal. Im not accusing you or anything, I'm just giving my solution.

IMac won't recognize the files on a PC

In order for a Mac to open files generated on a PC, you must have a program capable of reading these files. The new version of Microsoft Office defaults to saving files in a new format which is not compatible with earlier versions. This can be rectified by 'Back Saving' files to an earlier version of Office in the 'Save' menu.
If you have files that you know can be opened with an application that is installed on the Mac, ctrl/click (right click) on the file and chose 'Open With' from the drop down menu. This will allow you to choose the application.

There have been some reported issues with PS7 on Mac Os 10.4.. first i would try repairing disk permissions.. if that doesn't work, you may need to do a fresh install, then download all the updates before you run the application for the first time.

what type of file is it that you are trying to open, sometimes you will see gobbledegook if your computer doesn't have the right program to handle a PC word processing and your mac doesn't have Microsoft Office installed. It also could happen with other type of file such as an image, video etc.

Open office can open a number of word documents:
http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/

Gimp for macintosh opens a lot of image files:
http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

also if you know what type of file it is, try adding an extension to it by placing a dot then follow it by typing the filetype. For a word document type in .doc for instance

Scanner not working

No solution, but the same problem with my iMac. Followed all installation instructions but nothing appears as the manual instructed. Called Samsung's HELP humber and was told, very **** , that they cannot provide support for a Mac. Really? Why does Samsung claim the SCX-4521 is "totally compatible" with Mac? Either change their claim or get somebody on the desk who has a solution!
