Question about Toshiba Tecra A2 Notebook

Wifi switch problem

My laptop is a tecra A2 which works fine with the wifi switch off (but no internet) but with the switch on I get a blue screen telling me to disable any new software or haerdware. The last time I used it last December it was working fine with the switch on.

Many thanks. I managed to find the drivers on the internet, disabled the wifi adapter, installed the new drivers and no more blue screen. The only problem yet to solve is connecting it to the wireless network. It keeps saying that the IP address is incorrect and won't accept what I believe quite strongly is the correct keyword for the wireless. Will try again tomorow. Once again many thanks for your help. Diane

At first guess, I'd say you have a driver problem. Reboot the machine in safe mode, leaving the switch in the "ON" position. (F8 at startup for safe mode).

Log into the machine, and go to Device Manager. Uninstall/remove the wifi adapter.

Reboot.

Upon reboot, the system will attempt to reinstall the adapter, but you should not have a blue screen. If you have the original drivers, point Windows to them. You don't want Windows to use the "existing" drivers, because that's where the problem occurred.

Once the good drivers are installed, you should be back in business :)

Hope this helps - remember to rate!

    Diane-
Try giving the laptop a static IP address (192.168.xxx.025 for example). Your subnet mask is 255.255.55.0 and your gateway is your router address (192.168.xxx.xxx). If you know your ISP's DNS entries, add them as well, as it will help speed up web browsing (a little)

    Keep me posted :)

How to replace your Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 laptop keyboard ?

It's easy to break the flimsy keys on laptop. In order to better protect the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 notebook keyboard, some friends, instead, use USB keyboard. But if you work outdoors, carrying a USB keyboard is not convenient. You still have to use the laptop keyboard. Once a laptop keyboard stops working, there is no option but to replace it. You can use these steps to replace the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard.

1. Take out the battery and AC adapter, unplugged from the wall, enusre the laptop is fully powered off.
2. Remove those screws with a T-8 or Phillips screwdriver.
3. Turn the laptop back over and open it up. Check and see if the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard is tucked under any plastic pieces. If so, find them if those plastic pieces are screwed into anything, and unfasten them as well. If not, it probably uses clamps that can easily be removed.
4. Remove the plastic pieces carefully.
5. Unscrew any screws at the top (if necessary) and remove the keyboard itself from top to bottom. You'll notice that the keyboard is connected with a thin, but wide, data cable to the system board at the bottom.
6. Disconnect the data cable attachment of the keyboard which will sever all the remaining attachments of the laptop keyboard with the laptop computer motherboard. To remove this cable, you have to just carefully pull it out from the socket to which it is attached. Then you can lift out the entire keyboard out of the laptop.
7. Take the new Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard out of the plastic and place it inside with the right orientation, attach the data cable.
8. Refasten the keyboard in place at the top.
9. If you had to remove any plastic pieces, carefully snap them back in and replace any screws you had to remove.
10. Turn the laptop over and replace all of the keyboard screws.
11. Put the laptop battery back in place and switch it on to check Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard functionality. If everything has gone according to plan, you should be ready to type away!

You have to remember that once you open up the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 laptop computer for keyboard replacement, the warranty provided by the manufacturer stands void. We personally suggest that you do it on your own only if you are in a really desperate situation and there is no way you can get maintenance from the manufacturer. I hope this assists you. John

Tecra a2 wireless

The wireless card is in the base of the laptop but the antennas are in the screen. It is possible you have broken an antenna hence you are not receiving wireless.
Are the Wireless drivers installed? If not you need to goto the manufacturers website, find their support section and there should be a list of drivers for your specific machine. Installing these will resolve your problem. The link for Toshiba drivers is on my website.
Hope this helps,

Wifi connection

Hello. The wifi switch should be on as indicated by the light beside it. Please press on Start-Connect to  - then select a wireless network then click Connect. If you are asked for the password, please enter it. Click on Open Network and Sharing Center to check if there is a red x mark between the network and the internet or between the network and the computer icons. If there is none, please launch your internet explorer. Hope this works. Thanks.

Greetings,
Unfortunately you have lost the bootlog in your operating system this could have been due to a virus.(speculation) You will have to use the recovery disk that was provided to you when you bought the computer. If you don't have one contact the manufacturer and they will send you one sometimes free of charge. Take care... Be mucho blessed..Mark
