Thomson DTI550 set top box problem

I recently pressed add new services on this set top box. The new services were added but the existing channel numbers were changed by the box. Channels numbered 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc. are now in the high 800,s. Is there any way to renumber these channels?

I did exactly the same, tried to download new channels and lost channels like BBC, STV which are now sitting at 826 etc

The same thing happened to my receiver around August. I was about to buy a replacement. There doesn't seem to any way of editing the EPG.

Exactly the same happenend on mine added new channels but now they are all over the place, bbc programmes in the 800's

Exactly as described by others, downloading new services re-numbered existing channels so that BBC1, BBC2, ITV etc are now three digit numbers instead of 1, 2, 3 tec.

  • big_v2000 Nov 06, 2008

yup - i have exactly the same issue.
i'm about to take mine apart to see if i can reset it inside

Same problem as previous user's. Keep either replacing existing services or adding new services and smae problem occurs (i.e. BBC channels stored as 847 etc..., and other channels not assigned a programme number at all)'

Hopefully those of you who still own their DTI550 had it operational this last weekend and picked up the download that fixed this? If not, it should be repeated some time soon. So don't throw your 550 away yet!

I'm beginning to think that there will not be a download for the DTI 550. I've just searched the Thomson website and they say that they no longer offer support for these products in Europe.

It looks like it's destiny is the bin.

I'll keep you all posted...

Well I took it apart and there is no internal reset switch or battery.
So I deleted every channel manually, pulled the power and auto tuned, but to no avail (BBC1 on 815 still).
I then deleted Program 815 and tuned Program 1 manually on 490MHz. It found 6 new channels and added one (my missing BBC1 channel). Unfortunately, it added BBC1 to 815 again.
I have no ideas now unfortunatley.

Turn on goes blue then turns off

The most common reason for a TV to display a blue screen with no picture is because the source device has not been set to the proper mode.

If you are using a cable or satellite set-top box, ensure that it is turned on and set to an active station. If the set-top box is connected to the television using a coaxial cable, then the television should be set to Channel 3 or 4 to receive the signal.

If you have are using a VCR that is turned on, but not playing a tape and not tuned to a receivable channel, then a blue screen will be displayed on the TV. To resolve this, turn off the VCR or tune it to a receivable channel. If a cable or satellite set-top box is connected to the VCR using a coaxial cable, then the VCR should normally be set to Channel 3 or 4 to receive the signal.

If the blue screen is not because of a connected VCR or set-top box, the TV may require service.

Can't seem to add HD channels to Mitsubishi WS-65513

You need to run an external antenna feed to the air DTV input jack, bottom left. You can use your loop out if you already have an antenna connected to your antenna A input jack. Create a DTV device, then run your antenna setup for DTV.

I just had a similar problem with this box - For the first month or two, I got the local NBC affiliate (KING-5 in Seattle) just fine on 5.1, then, after fiddling with my antenna setup, I lost it completely - NOTHING I could do would get it back. I tried a bunch of stuff - Multiple types of antenna, adding an antenna amp box, a handful of "homebrew" antennas - Nada. Yet all my other channels came in fine (although a couple were right on the edge - This box seems to need a "17" or higher on the signal strength - Some of my channels were reading in the 15-18 range, and suffering the "blockies" and sound dropout)

After hitting TVfool.com, found out that the KING digital signal is actually broadcasting on channel 48. Punched in 48.1, and there it was, clear as a bell, using nothing but a "wick" antenna (Basically, strip 4-1/4 inches of the outer braid off one end of a piece of co-ax cable, leaving the center wire alone, then plug the other end into the box) getting me a 23 signal strength. But a second or two later, the box is displaying "5.1" - Weirdness...

Reconnected a near top-of-the-line Winegard Yagi/Log-periodic antenna - VERY directional, and has some gain all by itself - and the signal jumped above 50.

Still couldn't "channel-up/channel-down" or punch in "5.1" to tune it, though - Channel 5.x was a "dead zone" as far as the box was concerned.

Re-did the "autoscan", and now, it's back to normal - I can channel-up/channel-down to it at 5.1, or I can punch it in as 5.1, or I can punch it in as 48.1, and it's all good.

So, try re-doing the auto-scan. Worked for me...

Thomson dti 6300 16 top tv version box tuner works but programe lbrary where recordingd are available has frozen cannot access or delete

Hi! This is not a great solution and a bit long winded, but aimed at those who've lost the receipt! Start by recording a new programme - the box should still record. Now the corrupt recording is not the first one in the library. When you press library now, all appears to be well. You can find which is the corrupt recording by scrolling down slowly. The corrupt one should be the one with no thumbnail picture (plus it'll be the one that freezes the box up again!). Restart the box agan and press library. If you have recordings before the corrupt one you should be able to scroll very quickly past it and delete them now. Now the corrupt programme is at the bottom of the library list - you can't delete it but at least you can avoid it now...

Like I said far from ideal, but it works on mine. Still no word from Thomson. Hope this helps.

Do you have the antenna set to cable? Also some of the channels may be not added. Try to manually add each channel see if your able to do that.
