If your getting the 1442 error code wile trying to restore your iPod than you may need to reinstall iTunes. Make sure that you update your iTunes to the most current version. The following URL will bring you to Apples iPod shuffle trouble shooting assistant. This site will provide you with a more descriptive trouble shooting process.

If your using the 1st or
2nd generation of the shuffle you can try the iPod reset utility located at the following web address.

The ipod will not turn on it says to connect it to the computer and go to itunes and restore

It is probably corrupted either itunes2_bing.gif database or hdd clusters, so it's asking you to reset ipod to factory settings. Connect the device and click on it to select it in itunes.
you should get a screen like this. Select restore.

Ipod did not connect to pc

hi,

First Turn your PC on. The PC needs to be on to transfer music and charge the iPod shuffle. Then Place the iPod shuffle in the iPod dock connector if you have the newer version. If you're using the original version, then plug it directly into a high-power USB port on your PC. Check the monitor to ensure iTunes has loaded. This means a connection was established.

Please use the restore feature in itunes when your ipod is connected. If you are not able to unplug the ipod from the computer and then reset it and try again.

Hello there i have a problem with my mini apple ipod, is corrupted but dont know what to do,to recover it back.some times it says the i/o device error is corrupted. need your help badly to recover my ipod.

The first stop is to update your version of iTunes. Then connect your ipod to this and click the Restore button. I'm having to assume from the error message that you are connecting to a PC and not a Mac. That being the case it is likely the drivers have become corrupted rather than the device itself. Reinstalling iTunes should rectify this. Additionally try the Apple iPod Reset Utility available here.

All the best

512 MB apple ipod

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
  3. When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time is preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time
