Whirlpool duet 2004 model heats but wont spin

Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time. Also check outvideos for other style dryers. If you hear the motor running but it does not tumble it is most likely the belt.

Motor

If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out.

Remove the belt.

Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing.

Manually rotate the shaft of the motor. If the motor is very stiff, or impossible to rotate manually, and the blower fan housing is clear, you need to replace the motor.

I HAVE A TUMBLE DRYER BECKO DRVS62W THE BELT HAS SNAPPED HOW DO I REPLACE IT. THE DRUM DOES NOT ROTATE MANUALLY IS THIS ANOTHER PROBLEM OR WILL THE DRUM ROTATE ONCE THE BELT HAS BEEN REPLACED.

Hi,
If this is an electric tumble dryer,
the way to replace the belt is from the rear of the machine,
remove all the screws on the rear silver panel, which gives you access to the internals of the dryer.
And yes the drum wont turn properly if the belt is broken.

I hope this helps you.
If so please leave a vote or comment.

Have a great day

Drier does not tumble but it still heats.

Hi,

Sound like the belt being broken or slipping badly, burn out motor, or worn support parts.
  • Dryer have a belt that rotate the drum, If the belt worn out or broken, it can not move the drum then you just need to replace it.
  • You can check motor by hearing buzzing sound, if the belt has the problem. If you do not hear any sound from the motor then you may have to replace it.
  • Try to move drum manually (by hand), if it is hard to turn then problem with the idler pulley, glides, or drum rollers.
I hope this will solve you problem

Good luck and have a nice day
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Click here for a belt installation diagram Motor If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out. Here's how to test the dryer motor: Remove the belt. If the motor rotates freely, run the motor momentarily with the belt removed and the blower in place. If the motor runs fine with the belt removed, there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the clothes drum. Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers or pulley, and then reassemble the dryer and try it again. If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor. Door switch Your dryer can't operate at all if the door switch is defective. It's inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Maytag dryer won't rotate after blower wheel replacement

Check the drive belt and belt tensioner. From the way you describe it, the belt is loose and with a load in the drum, it will not rotate due to belt slipping.
