Those question marks only indicate your system is not showing drivers for that hardware... last time I reinstall the os on a dell system dell made it a little bit tricky to reinstall the drivers... if I remember correctly you need to run the software on the cds to install the drivers (don't try to install the drivers with the windows wizard as probably the drivers are nicely packaged in the cd.) so look for some setup.exe application on the cd's you may have.. (assuming those are the cd's that came with your system) run it and follow the instructions.. from that point it should be straight forward.

if you don't have the cd to your system here's the driver download website from dell for your system
(check if it is your system first)

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=XPS_PNT_P4_DXG&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

download what you need first and don't run everything at the same time. install one at a time and restart as prompted and then move on the next driver installation, until you get all the ? marks out of device manager.

good luck!

Can't erase drive on dell xps 210 to do a clean install for windows 7

hard drive? have to do a FORMAT of drive to clear it. then try install, run any drivers disks before the windows after formatting the hard drive. all will be gone that was, so backup anything you wanted saved.

What cord connects an xps 600 to the internet

Via ethernet cable called CAT5e, using RJ45 connector.

It goes into your LAN/Ethernet port on the rear of the machine.

Take care!

I need to replace the (failed) HD with a Seagate 80GB which is currently formatted FAT32. Is this OK or do I need to reformat as NTFS? Using WinXP

I'd use NTFS but you can make up your own mind here....

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/choosing_between_ntfs_fat_and_fat32.mspx?mfr=true

If you have old computers that need to access files on yours go FAT or FAT32. If you intend to or would like to add huge hard drives in the future (over 2 TB) go NTFS.

My computer freezes everytime i turn it on in windows loading screen. I am having to use a friends computer because i cannot use mine. I was told i have to reformat my computer. Can i do this in setup...

It is possible to perform the Windows install yourself, however you would need access to your orginal windows disk and licence key. All you do is boot the laptop with your disk interted into the DVD drive. It will then tell you to press any key to install windows.Do a full format of NTFS and when asked to create a primary boot partition set this to the maximum size allowed. This will ensure that you use your whole disk. Therefore have a single C: drive and your information contained within. Just follow the steps and do not press any key when prompted to do so after the format of the hard drive as this will start you right back at the begining again.

Thumbs up!

My computer is infected with virus and will not open any programs. I want to reformat my pc and I need instructions.

Your pc came with Restore CDVD or CDs.
Just insert the disc in the dvd drive, restart your pc, and follow the instructions.
Keep in mind that you will loose all your store data.
If you want to save them, you must copy them into a USB drive or other media.

Onece your pc is re-formated, take a look at the following web site: www.labellpcsolutions.com
You wont have to go thru this hassle again.. Good luck

Older Dell created photo and audio Cd's do not

if the CD's were written in a UDF format, then you'll need the same program on the Optiplex, or one that reads UDF format (Roxio Direct CD, Nero InCD etc)
If the cds are not in a UDF format, and are readable on the 2300 but not the GX 270 then there may be a tracking issue with one of the drive's alignments.

Dell xps 600 windows booting problem

You would probably do right to reinstall Windows. The bios handed off to Windows long before the splash screen comes up. It is probably a faulty driver or corrupt registry entry. If it was me I would reload Windows
