I recently bought a Max DVD player (DVP-6160) without a remote, I then got a philips universal remote (SRU3003/27) to program for use with the DVD player. I have not been able to locate the code, however I have had it function but the buttons do not correspond with the action.
Any help in finding the right code would be much appreciated.

If you have a universal remote control, you can use its code search feature to try to find a code that works. If you search through allcodes stored in the remote without success, you may have to try another universal remote. Different remotes may have different codes.
Codes are stored in the remote. If you are trying to use a universal remote in place of the GPX remote, use the code search feature to find something that will work. If a thorough search through all codes stored in the remote does not work, you may have to try a different programmable remote.
It will depend on the model of your remote. Here is a link to the Philips site. Scroll down to the model remote you have and click on it. You will see a link to the user manual for that remote and all codes will in it.
The website you can go to is
http://www.urc.philips.com/. Drove me crazy looking for this website and you must know the first three letter infront of your model number of remote for instance mine was us2-pm435s. Share this with others.
Not all Philips TVs use the same remote codes.
It is very unlikely that the TV remote receiver is the problem (trust me).
Is this the original remote for that set?
If not, try program it as a universal with the other Philips codes or get a universal remote and do the same.
Here is the website for remote codes:
I just bought a 32" dynex lcd and saw that i couldn't program my two $5 ge remotes to work it. From reading in this forum and others I'm not the only one with the problem, I thought I was stuck with only the dynex remote. But the dynex website tells you how to get universal remotes to work,
It tells you to try the codes for Orion, Emerson, Memorex, Sansui, Sylvania, Zenith. The second orion code worked for me. both my ge remotes look and work the same but one uses a four digit code and the other uses a three digit code. I used 0135 on one and 135 on the other. There is a good chance that if you try the codes for the brands dynex lists you will find one that works. The 0135 or 135 might work for most dynex tv's.
If you have a ge remote and haven't programmed it for volume punch through you might try it. It allows the tv volume to be controlled using the ge remote even when it's set to something other than tv.
