The igniter had started on it's own. I went to check it out and noticed that the dial was sparking as well. I lifted up the dial and saw the spark. The spark then ignited a 3-4 inch flame out of the hole. The oven is less than 3 years old.

Re: Range top caught fire
Welcome to fixya,
You said, the igniter had started by itself!
Please , do not play around with this issue!
You can try to pull the plug on this. And use service to diagnose this.
We do not want you or your family to have a fire in the middle of the
If you need to use the range till they come and diagnose it, pull the plug when you are finished.
Pulling the plug for 5 minutes will perhaps reset the system, BUT this is no replacement for getting service in this case!
Let me know what happens.

The whole top of the stove lifts off. You need to pull it out from the wall, unhook the gas, loosen and remove any screws that are on the back that hold the back to the top section. Open the stove doors and look up from the bottom to see if there are screws holding the top down, take those out and lift the top off. You can then access all the parts for the burners.
The switches that are causing the sparking are located under the knobs that you turn the burners on. Lift the knobs off and you should be able to see them.
If you have just cleaned the range the switches may have gotten wet. You can try to dry them out with the hair dryer, or just let them sit for 24 hours with the range unplugged. If they continue to spark after that you will need the switches replaced.
check the spark head on that particular burner first for dirt, they all need to be clean to recognize the flame after ignition and sense the flame to shut off the sparker module after ignition, and if not you will need to replace the spark module that fires the sparkers itself, but try cleaning sparkers and underneath where the wires connect to the sparkers first for contamination, its cheaper than starting to replace parts
try oven if working gas valve system possible ok lift off covers to expose igniter looks like a little wire that arcs a spark to ignite gas clicking is igniter trying to spark ,clean area of debris if any, if no spark will need igniter adjuster /repaired or replaced and gas valve checked for proper function
One of your "switches" to your burners is shorting causing unit to spark when in the off mode, or, you may have a bug problem, bugs have made their way into the spark module.
1: if no bug problem, disconnect stove from electricity, lift top up, remove all of the single connections to each switch to top burners(make sure they don't have any bare wires touching the frame), then plug unit back in, if still sparking then replace module.
I have a Wolf Gas Range and initially my igniter incessantly sparked. I noticed that the igniter is cracked. Do I need to replace it and if so how do I replace it? The electrical wire to the igniter became disconnected; should sticking it back into the igniter cause it to work?
Had The same problem. I removed the top of the control panel to find out that one of the ignitor switches had turned when I replaced the four large plasic nuts on the control panel. Make sure the switches (block) are aligned, and kept aligned, when re-installing the top of the control panel. Startwreck.
