Problem with LG LSC26905TT Side by Side Refrigerator

We have a new whirring noise that sounds like a squeaky fan.

The unit is just 4 yrs old and this has just started. The noise stops periodically for a few minutes.

is it in the freezer?if so most likely it's a bad evap fan motor, open the door and push in on the door switch and listen to the fan motor to see if that's it.i think the switch is up top on the left side, hold it in,if it is the evap fan motor the new part number is 4681JB1020G and it's around 50 dollars.

    • Thank you for your response. The noise is coming from the bottom of the refrigerator behind the grill.

    • ok then that could be the condenser fan motor, when was the last time you vacummed out the coil?it should be done at least once a year, twice a year if you have pets.this is where the heat escapes out of the machine so if the coil is filled with dust and lint it will run hotter than normal and you can damage the compressor too.open the doors, the center strip between the freezer and the fridge can get warm or hotter than normal.http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Condenser-Fan-Motor/4680JB1026H/1330001 here's a picture of the motor part number 4680JB1026H and it's around 35 dollars.pull out the fridge,go in the back and remove the bottom panel, listen to the fan motor and make sure this is the problem and not something else, also for any reason it is the condenser fan motor and it stops running you can put any fan you have in the house behind the fridge and let it blow on the compressor and condenser coil so you don't loose any food.when you are done checking the motor unplug the machine,if you have a shop vac vac off as much dust off of the condenser coil and fan motor then set it up on blow and blow out the coil and fan assy.you don't want to mess around with this if it is the fan motor, like i said if the machine runs to hot you can take out the compressor and then it's new fridge time.hope this helps and good luck with your machine and have a great holiday coming up.
