Question about SanDisk Sansa m240 MP3 Player

Sansa m240 is requesting that i insert disk into drive

Im being asked to insert disk inside drive everytime i connect the mp3 to the system and if i try to switch it on it wont on at all.pls help

Used for years. Deleted mp3 files. Tried to reload new mp3 files by select all and drag and drop to audible folder. Message said it was full and would only load partial. Deleted partial load safely...


Sorry mate it has been corrupted and and may not work any more it seems the set up and read file that is like a operating system has been moved or deleted. The same things happens with usb drives.or has been disconnected without using the disconnect usb device icon.

Lost Installation Disk for Sandisk Sansa m240


most of the mp3 players are recognized without installation cd itself.
please answer me the following questions
1. are you using your mp3 player for the first time in your computer or you uninstalled the software and lost the cd .

2. what happens (or shown )in the screen of the player when you connect the device to your pc

Stuck in "sandisk initializing screen"


To those that are having problems with the MP3 player not being recognized. With Windows XP there is a little Icon on your Systems Tray that is called the "Safely Remove Harware Icon". Not using this Icon when unpluging MP3''s or zip drives can cause your PC to no longer recognize it. Toshiba Satellite laptops are known for this, others probably have the same problem. The solution here is to install the latest update of the ACPI Flash Bios for the Toshiba Satellite computer. Maybe this is also the problem with other PCs. To prevent these problems allways click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon before removing the MP3 player or any USB flash drive
1 With your m240 set to MSC and connected, go to "My Computer" and "right click" on the "Sansa m240" icon and select "Properties"
2 In that window, select the "Hardware" tab
4. In that "All Disk Drives" window, highlight the "Sansa m240" drive and select "Properties" (at the bottom)
5. In that window, select "Policies"
6. And there, set it to " Optimize for Quick Removal" and click OK and OK again

How to delete songs off of my Sansa m240?


You need to connect it to a PC then it should show up as a removable storage device. You may then delete or copy tracks to is like any disk drive. If you are unsure how to do this then please comment. Hope this helps, plese rate my answer as better than thanks for trying.

My sandisk sansa m240 not working with my windows xp pc


I have XP Media Edition w/SP2 and I see the M240 as a Media Device and NOT a hard disk, AND it has MEDIA and DATA subdirectories only. Media has to go into the MEDIA subdirectory to be seen/read played. Now, on my plain XP system, the M240 it shows up as a disk drive with different layout. There is no MEDIA directory, so putting files into the mass storage device letter will lockup the unit. I haven't tried Media Player 10 solution, but if you have one of these, do NOT put files in it unless you see the MEDIA subdirectory.

Sansa m240: 0 MB after wrong firmware update


If your Sansa does not recognize MSC (Mass Storage Class) mode, then your PC will not be able to communicate properly to it. Sandisk can fix it but you will have to email support@sandisk.com, to ask them how to proceed from here. Give them the following information: 1) Sansa device model 2) Firmware version on your device 3) What computer OS you have 4) Problem you're experiencing (what you've done) ZT3000 Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"

Not enough memory space for music db


Your M240 may have encountered a corruption in its Music Database, and may be corrected by formatting and updating the firmware. Try this: Manually switch the player to MSC mode and format through "Disk Management". Here are the steps: Step 1: Locate the "Hold" switch on the side of the M240 and enable it (you should see an "orange-colored" surface when it's enabled) Step 2: Plug the M240 to your computer (recommended Operating System is Windows XP and above) and check Windows Explorer if the player is detected as a "Removable Drive" Step 3: Open "Disk Management" by right-clicking on the "My Computer" icon, then selecting "Manage" Step 4: Your "Disk Management" window should be divided into 2 panes. On the left pane, click on "Disk Management" Step 5: On the upper right pane of "Disk Management", you should find the drive letter corresponding to your Sansa M240. The lower section also contains the drive # pertaining to your M240. Right-click on either drive letters pertaining to the M240 and select "Format". Follow the on-screen prompts. Make sure that the "Quick Format" checkbox remains un-checked. Step 6: In general, Disk Management is more the effective tool for formatting your M240 and assuming the format processing completed without any errors, proceed to updating the firmware of your player. Step 7: Use this link to download the Sansa Firmware updater: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376 Save this file to your Desktop and run it while your M240 is still plugged in to your PC. Follow the on-screen prompts. Step 8: "Safely remove" your M240 from your PC and -- with a fresh battery -- power on your player. It should boot up normally. I hope this works. We do apologize for any kind inconvenience this issue is causing you. For verification, does your computer have Windows XP as its operating system? This issue may be due to some sort of corruption on the Sansa m240 itself. We should try formatting the Sansa m240 as a possible solution. Caution: Formatting will erase all information on the Sansa mp3 player. Please be sure to have a back up of all the information before proceeding. If your Sansa m240 is currently frozen, please remove the battery (to unfreeze it), then put it back in, and connect it to your Windows XP computer. Since you cannot access your Sansa m240 to convert to MSC mode, please have the ?HOLD? button ?ON? so that you can have your Sansa m240 in MSC mode before plugging to your computer. To format the Sansa m240 on your PC, let us connect the Sansa m240 to your computer on an USB port preferably located near the power hub or to an external self powered USB hub, go to ?My Computer?, single right click on the ?Removable Disk? associated with your Sansa m240, and select ?Format?. Let us please make sure that, under FILE SYSTEM, we change FAT to FAT32, and then single left click ?Start?. This will erase all data off the Sansa m240 and correct errors on it, which should make the Sansa m240 usable again. We also recommend formatting the Sansa m240 another way. Please be advised again that formatting will erase all data. Please right click on my computer and select ?Manage?. When ?Computer Management? comes up, please click on ?Disk Management? on the left hand side. After clicking on ?Disk Management? you should now have a list of drives in the right side panel. On the right, look for the Sansa m240, it may show up as Disk 1, 2, 3? Removable Disk. Right click on the larger "Volume" rectangular icon to the right of the Removable disk and select ?Format? choosing FAT32. If you do not have the format option, please select "New Partition" and just keep clicking next through the Wizard that appears. After formatting the Sansa m240, please do try your Sansa m240. If applicable, please go the link below to download the firmware update for your Sansa m240.
