If the control panel lights up and appears to operate, I would check for burned out Infrared heat bulbs. If nothing lights up or comes on, then check for a fuse inside or a wire disconnected from the control panel. I can't see parts for this for sale online, so you might need to buy a new one. Of coarse, check your warranty first, a lot of these had a 3 year warranty, so you might get a new one free.

On most appliances you can swap a cord from any other appliance that you are throwing out. Open up the unit and disconnect the wires (either from crimp style marrettes or crimp push on or crimps with the eyelette) On the housing look for the nylon connector. Pinch this with a pair of pliers and pull out. Putting them back in is tougher but acheivable if you hav patience.

I am also trying to disassemble my DR-968 but am having trouble with the faceplate. Has anyone figured out how to remove the faceplate?

What you are experiencing is common if the plaques are either out of alignment or the burner is dirty. I know you said you cleaned it with low pressure air, but you need at least 120 PS. of air to clean the burner and plaques as per the owners manual.
