- Scanner failed, cannot make copies or fax
- Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax
- Scanner failure, cycle power
Additionally, the scanner bulb might not turn on during scanning.ry the following
solutions in the order presented to resolve the issue. When one of the
solutions resolves the issue, there is no need to continue
troubleshooting.Solution one: Check the scanner lightFollow these steps to check the scanner light by making a color copy of any document. - Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
- Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
- Make a color copy.
- When
the product starts to scan the document to copy, slightly lift the
scanner lid to see if the scanner light turns on. It is not necessary to
lift the lid completely CAUTION:Do not look directly at the scanner light.The scanner light should be visible under the scanner glass to the right or left.Figure 1: Scanner light visible underneath the glass

when the scanner mechanism moves across the scanner bed, continue to the solution to reset the product.
- If the scanner light turns on

Solution two: Check the power connectionFollow these steps to troubleshoot the power connection.- Press the Power button (
) to turn off the product.
- Unplug
the product power cord from any surge protector, extension cord, or
power strip, and then connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet.
- Press the Power button (
) to turn on the product.
- Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
- Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
- Try again to make a color copy.
- If these steps resolved the issue

- Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Wait 30 seconds.

- Press the Power button (
