I am installing an HP wireless printer and I do not know my security key or passphrase.I have a Belkin N Wireless router serial # 12822823312400, PIN Code 51219420. Can you help? Ron Huffaker

They were set when the router was first installed. If you have lost them then reset the router and it will return to the default ones: the user is - admin - , no login password and no security key. You must set them all again and this time put them on a label and attach it to the bottom of the router

That sounds like a Belkin router? goto the mfg site and search for support--> drivers __> then look for your router ID OR use the search box and it should take you right to the proper site.. IF it's BELKIN I think the site is www.belkin.com. IF you need more assistance you can try to contact me directly at mage0213@aol.com

How to secure Belkin wireless as not able to do so

you need to logon to your router to configure it, see your manual to how to connect, most default ip's are 192.168.0.1 or 192 168.1.0 just type that in your website tab. if its right youll get a login box popup, same again most default are set to admin and no password. read your manual to be 100% sure. once your on your router you can set it up with a password to make it secure.

there usually is a small recessed reset button on the back if you press and hold this for 5 secs while unplugged the router will revert to factory settings. (including clearing passwords)

you can then use the default connection details, which are usually published in the quick setup guide
this info may be replicated on the manufacturer's website

Assuming you can't get it to run from the desktop icon, as long as the driver is installed which it should be, you don't need Belkin software to run your connection.

the easiest way in Vista is to go to control panel>network and sharing centre and see if network discovery is ticked green.

If not on top left of window is connect to a network, then see if your wireless connection is listed, if so click connect, if not at the bottom of the window, click set up a connection or network and follow the wizard.

Go to the Belkin support section at their website: http://www.belkin.com/support/

Look for your model router and download the "firmware" upgrade for it. Once you go install the up to date firmware try to give the router a reset. Hopefully doing all that will get the router working again and you connecting to the Internet.

When using the Belkin G router the network connection becomes lost and can not get on the internet. My computer has Vista on it and Belkin says that the router is compatible with the program.

This is possibly caused by your firewall or the wireless security (wpa/wep) on the router if you have set it up.
First of all, if you can connect to the internet via a cabled connection the problem is going to be with the way you've set the router up.
If you've setup wireless security on the router, have you also set it up for your wireless adaptor?.
I suggest you try to connect to the internet via cable to start with, if this works try to connect wirelessly with your firewall off.
If all else fails start from the beginning again.
