I am unable to use my printer via the computer. Everytime that I turn the Printer on whilst conected to the computer - the computer re-boots any ideas? I removed the drivers and went to re-install - but can't find the CD or instruction manual!

I tried both of your suggestions already - but thanks for trying! The printer works fine direct from my camera, copying etc. Possibly a software problem?

Hi nens..! is your printer ok..? try to connect your printer to another usb port, if not change your usb cable, maybe there's something wrong with your cable.faulty cable keeps your computer restarting. Hope this would help..

Can not conect to wifi

the canon MP170 is not a wifi printer, you need to connect it to a computer via usb, if you have have a second computer on your network you may "share" the printer across the network.this will allow you to print wirelessly to the printer via the connected PC.

Here is a lik to Canon's support page where you can download the driver you need for Vista (64).

Canon MP170 Support

Click on the "Drivers and Downloads" tab.

Select your operating system from the drop down menu.

Click on the file to download it to your computer.

Save it to your computer where you can find it after downloading. (Temp folder, for example.)

Remember not to connect the usb cable until prompted by the software.

Sharing cannon printer MP170

If you want to make your printer a Stand-alone device (no need to be connected to a computer, just directly to the router) you may want to look at getting a Print-Server.

But if you just want to share the printers, you will have to install the printer separately on both computers (since they use 2 diff drivers for the printer), then share it on the vista computer. at this point you should now be able to print on both machines
