Question about Panasonic Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

I have a Panasonic SA HT1500 Recordable DVD Home Theater System for which the sound has gone. It displays the following symptoms: 1) No sound from the amplifier but I can hear a faint pop when switching on 2)There is no sound from the SCART connector 3)If I do not plug in the amplifier there is always sound to the SCART 4)When using SCART 2 there is always a DVD sound 5) There is 32v to the large chip 6) It seems that the system is muted, but the mute is off. Kind regards Dave

"No sound from the amplifier but I can hear a faint pop when switching on" That means that a component, probably an IC, had blown on the Amp final circuit.

The amp must be tested and inspected by a technician.

You have audio on scart 2 because the audio there is coming from the preamp.

If you have audio on scart 2, there should also be audio on scart 1, probably there is more than one problem in your unit.

Being it more than one problem, best way to troubleshoot and fix it is following the diagrams on service manual to test the amp.

Does it try to turn on at all when you hit the power button? Watch the fan in the back and see if it turns for a second or two when you press power.

Moved and lost power supply from dvd to wall. SA HT-720 model SR#DE4 1F005628 Theater Home Sound System

http://www.nodevice.com/user_manual/panasonic/dvd_cd/sa-ht720.html

There is a power CORD p/n K2CB2CB00006, but no external power supply.

You could search for that specific part and pay an arm and a leg for it or just go to any Radio Shack or electrical supply store and pick one up for about $8. You may even have one unused somewhere around the house.
