  • Anonymous Mar 10, 2009

I am getting the same error message and can't reset it. "Prevent paper abrasion is set" The radio buttons on the dialogue are greyed out. It is a printer I purchased used and had it shipped in--a Canon i9900. However my print quality seems OK so far.

How to print a configuration page from an HP LaserJet P1102w

freginold_0.jpg

The HP LaserJet Professional P1102w is a compact wireless desktop printer. It is very easy to set up and use. Unlike larger HP printers, the P1102w does not even have a true operation panel; it only has a power button, a cancel button, and a wireless button.

However, like just about every other HP printer, the P1102w has the ability to print out a configuration page that displays many of the printer's settings and statistics. This page is called the self test / device configuration page, and on it you can find the printer's page count, number of paper jams (broken down by section), amount of available memory, network settings, and more.

To print the device configuration page, make sure the printer is on and ready. The green light on the top left side of the printer should be lit. If the red light is lit or flashing, then there is a problem with the printer -- such as no toner or a paper jam -- and you won't be able to print the configuration page until the problem is rectified. You'll also need to have at least one sheet of paper loaded into the paper tray. Make sure the two side fences and the rear fence are snug against the paper to prevent misfeeding.

Press and hold the cancel button (the button with the red X on it) for about four seconds. The printer will warm up and begin making noise, and the green light will start to flash -- when these two things happen, you can release the cancel button. The printer will print out the configuration page, face down, and once it has finished the green light will stop flashing and the printer will quiet down.

CDS slipping when playing.

Try the disc in another CD / DVD player.

It is important to make sure that the DVD itself is the problem, and not the CD / DVD player.

Cleaning a CD / DVD player is a much more intricate process that requires device-cleaning hardware.

Lay the disc artwork-side down so that you can easily clean the playing side.

You should always avoid setting a disc playing-side down to prolong its lifespan.

Gently rub the disc with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove all traces of dust and fingerprints. Always rub a disc from the center toward the outer rim in a light motion to prevent any other damage.

Apply a light amount of toothpaste to a cotton wool ball and gently rub the disc from the inside out.

You may need a few drops of water to make the toothpaste spread easily.

Cover the entire surface area of the disc, or at least the area that is scratched.

Toothpaste is a gentle abrasive that works well for fixing simple scratches.

Clean off the toothpaste with the cloth, once again rubbing from the inside of the disc toward the rim.

Try not to push too hard to prevent further damage.

Apply other kinds of light abrasives such as baking soda or glass cleaner if the sound is still distorted.

Remove the solution with the same gentle rubbing technique.

Purchase a disc-cleaning spray from a local video or electronics store.

These sprays are effective in removing any grime from the disc and filling small scratches.

hope this helps

The printer started jamming and shreading up paper. Now the paper is being pulled through at an angle if at all. When there is no paper going through the printer still seems to be going through the...

The following a step by step instructions for the printer issue:
First Set Prevent paper abrasion (Windows)
By using the Prevent paper abrasion function, the space between the print head and paper is increased, preventing print head contact with the paper.
When printing, if there is any foreign material (such as a piece of metal or a pencil) in the printer, the printer maybe damaged. If there is any foreign material, remove it at once.
1. Power the printer off.
2. Open the paper support and confirm that there is not any foreign material in the auto sheet feeder. If there is any foreign material, remove it by hand or with tweezers.
3. Open the front cover and confirm that there is not any foreign material in the printer. If there is any foreign material, remove it by hand or with tweezers.
4. Power the printer on and confirm that the printer operate normally.
Removing paper jam:
If the paper tears and a piece remains inside the printer, open the Top Cover and remove it. If you cannot pull the paper out, turn the printer off and turn it back on. The paper will be ejected automatically.
Paper Loaded in the Cassette Jams inside the Printer
(1) Press the POWER button of the printer to turn off the power. Then, open the Rear Cover.
(2) Fold a piece of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in four, push it in until it hits the jammed paper, then pull out the paper folded in four.
(3) Close the Rear Cover, then press the POWER button of the printer to turn on the power.
Wait until the jammed paper is automatically ejected.
