Question about Xerox Printers & Copiers

Xerox Workcentre 24. 20 months old. The sreen simply says: Fault/Error, then below: A fault has occured. Switch the machine Off and then On. If the problem persists, call for service. In the bottom left hand corner of the screen it has: 116-321. We purchased the machine second hand when we have contacted Xerox agents they just want to sell us a new machine!

That is a software processing error.
Do you have it set up as a printer? If so, try removing the print cable and power it on that way.
If that doesn't work, you need to have the firmware reloaded. That can only be done from a laptop with Xerox software on it.

How To Search for a Fault Code WC7220 / WC7225 Fault Code Page
To search on a fault code, enter one code at a time. The codes will be displayed on the Touch Screen.
Fault code format: A 3-digit number, followed by a 3-digit number. For example, 010-352.
Viewing Fault and Alert Messages on the Control Panel
When a fault or alert condition occurs, a message will be displayed on the Control Panel to inform you of the problem. Alert messages inform you about printer conditions, such as low supplies or open doors, that require your attention. Fault messages warn you about printer conditions that prevent the printer from printing or degrade printing performance. If more than one condition occurs, only one displays on the Control Panel.
To view a complete list of active fault and alert messages:
  1. Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel.
  2. Select the [Active Messages] tab.
  3. Use the Down arrow and select [Faults], [Alerts], or [Faults & Alerts].
  4. To view details, select a fault or alert.
Viewing the Fault History on the Control Panel
When faults occur, they are logged in to a fault history file by date, time, and fault code. Use this list to identify trends and resolve problems.
To view the fault history:
  1. Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel.
  2. Select the [Active Messages] tab.
  3. Select [Fault History]. The screen displays the number, date, time, and image count for each fault code.
The following table represents the system area as represented by the first 3-digits of the fault code:

Xerox Printer not starting, A fault has occurred. Fault Error 116-201

If this does not work. Unplug the machine from the wall while still on
do not power down first. treat it like the power just went off in your building. While the machine is still off not plugged to the wall. Press the power button several times. This will erase any saved info on memory.
Plug machine back on an try again. If it does it again you will need to replace your hard drive and that will take a service call.

Solution : Power the Machine OFF and ON CAUTION: Wait at least 30 seconds between powering the machine OFF and powering the machine ON. Damage to the optional hard disk could occur.
  1. Press the power switch to the OFF (O) position.

    NOTE: If the machine is equipped with the optional hard disk, the machine remains on for approximately 10 seconds, while storing files and preparing for shutdown. The machine then shuts down completely.

  2. Press the power switch to the ON position.

fault Code 093-311: Rotary Assembly Failure Solution : Power the Machine Off and On CAUTION: Wait at least 60 seconds between powering the machine off and then on again; otherwise, damage to the machine and the hard drive may occur.
  1. Press the power switch to the [O] (off) position.



    NOTE: The machine will remain on for approximately 10 seconds while storing files and preparing for shutdown, and then will power off completely.
  2. Wait 60 seconds, and then press the power switch to the ['] (on) position.

What does fault 072-210 mean? how to fix it?


An error occurred when using Tray 2. Turn the machine off and on. Most likely worn feed rollers, causing a "Ghost Jam" try replacing the feed rollers in the tray, and try again.

Sounds to me like you need a drum or one of the other routine maintenance items.
The way to find out is to press your machine status button, then look under supplies. You will probably find that a drum life has expired, the IBT cleaning roll or fuser life have expired.
I am sure if you look there one of those "supply" items has reached its end of life.
In the same area under the machine status , there is also a section there for active messages and fault codes. Make sure you look there. If you have additional questions please ask.
