No sound on vcr

Sony SLV-D360P DVD Player / VCR Combo
When I switch from "tv" to "vcr" (button #24 on the remote diagram), I'm no longer getting sound...Therefore, when playing a tape just recorded, there's no sound on the tape....The video is fine---just no audio...Have had this unit since Nov '05---no problem with this until this week...

My sony SLV N55 played great until one day there was no sound. Records fine. Plays fine. Everything works except there's no sound. We did have a pretty bad lightning storm right before this happened. Is my VCR toast?

SOURCE: VCR won't take tape

Is it ejecting the tape when you set up for timed record, or any record mode for that matter? If so, check for the presence of the record lockout tab in the tape. If tab is there, machine should accept it. If machine ejects tape with the tab present, then the sensor which detects tab present or absent is probably afoul. this sensor is often a small switch. This tab, by the way, is on the backside of the tape, on the left, looking at the tape from the back.

SOURCE: Magnavox combo vcr dvd

What you're describing is common when the center LED has failed / gone out. If you're really good at taking a unit like this apart and putting it back together - and not too bad with a solder stick you could attempt this one yourself... It is a pretty intensive repair but not difficult for a good shop just time consuming. The part isn't too expensive either, just an infared LED... In fact, we've run a bit short on stock once in awhile and bought one of the off the shelf versions from Radio Shack which worked just fine. Good Luck Bill

SOURCE: stuck tape in vhs/tv combo

Unplug the TVCR, take the cover off, find the motor (probably on the right side of the mechanism) and turn its shaft with your fingers until you have run the tape back out. Now plug it back in and try it again with a scarificial tape. If it continues to fail, replace all the rubber belts in the mechanism.
Hope ya fix it!

SOURCE: getting a dvd player to record vhs to dvd

The RF converter takes the Red/White/Yellow as INPUTS and converts them to either channel 3 or 4. You need to go the other way. You need a tuner or another VCR to convert from RF (channel 3 or 4) to a standard AV signal (Red/White/Yel).

Toshiba sd-v295 tunerless DVD VCR Combo To Sony Digital TV Instructions

It will depend on if the Toshiba has an HDMI socket. If it has then the Sony TV will almost certanily have one. Then all you need do is get a HDMI lead and connect the two. The only other way would be via a SCART lead. If the TV has only one SCART and it's being used you can get a SCART Switching Box from places such as Amazon, where you will also get the other cables.

Sony SLV-N60 stopped playing suddenly

Sounds like you have a head-clog. You can purchase a VHS Head Cleaner at Radio Shack for $5.00. If that doesn't work repairing your VCR is not cost effective when you consider that you can purchase a new VHS/DVD combo deck for under $125.00

Vcr does not run

Try changing the channels on the VCR itself. If you can do that, then it would indicate a problem with the VCR's remote. If you are still unable to change channels on the VCR manually, it could indicate a circuitry problem, for which you will have to get the VCR serviced.
