I have an older Panasonic HDTV Viera and I am trying to hook up a Panasonic DVD/sound suround model SA-HT920 and am not having any luck getting it too work. I have the sound turned off on the tv speakers...

What does the TV really need from the receiver in all of this? Minimally, Component video for the DVD and managing the SA-HT920, not much else.

A TV is not normally an optimal source of audio.

Your broadcast TV-related sound would be higher quality and easier to obtain if you got it from the Cable or Sat box you probably have. Route ITS BEST (digital multichannel) audio directly to the SA and and its BEST (HI-DEF) VIDEO directly to the TV. You could also run vanilla analog audio to the TV so you can watch news in lo-fi audio on the TV.

The exact model of TV would be helpful to know as audio capabilities may vary.

Should you still feel the need to run TV-originated audio to the SA from the Viera through its headphone or audio output, connect that to any available analog RCA input.

Connection of a jack into the audio output will pass unmodified TV audio to the SA. That's a good thing as the REAL audio electronics needs an unmodifed source for best results.

Can i connect and ipod to SA EN28? I see a music port. Hopefully, this is for ipod. But how do i select the option.

You certainly can connect your iPod. The 3/8" mini plug on the bottom of the iPod is the same type as on your Panasonic. A simple mini to mini cable (available at Radio Shack and others) will do the trick. Select Music P on your remote and you should be OK. Remember that the volume control on the iPod will still work as will the one on the EN28; so, set the iPod to a medium setting then slowly bring up the main volume to the desired level.

unfortunately you cannot hook a dvd player to a receiver, the dvd player has to be hooked directly to the tv.

Replacing a Surround Sound System Receiver

the difference is the "same speaker connections"
the front and rear will connect the same but the subwoofer is amplified by the HT75 , and the HE75 does not have an internal amp for the subwoofer speaker , only a "pre output"(has to be amplified)
