Question about Archos 504 500870 Digital Media Player
Left my Archos connected to PC. Battery went flat (this model doesn't charge through USB) and despite hours hooked to the charger it will not power up or display any sign of life. The battery was getting a little short on stamina and would lose charge over a few days, even if unused.
I have tried removing the battery for a while, and held the off button down for over a minute. Also tried holding down off and tv/lcd buttons simultaneously, didn't work either.

please check what is your firmware version, the latest one is 1.6.23. If it is lower please upodate it by downloading the file from archos website. Maybe it would help

SOURCE: 504 recovery screen
hold the tv button slightly earlier than holding the power button, first tv then power (while still pressing the tv button). it should first boot up to a normal green ARCHOS screen, then it will enter the recovery mode.

SOURCE: Archos AV500 / USB harddive
the only thing that is keeping the drive from showing up is the format, the archos can only read fat32 external hard disks, so format the drive fat32 and you can use it
