Blank screen using Vista x64 with Nvidia Forceware Drivers 8600GT

Hi,

I installed Vista 64 Bit SP1. After installing Drivers version 178.13 and rebooting the login screen did not show, and monitor went to standby. There was still the start up sound.

It works fine using the Analog output. With the DVI also attached, i can see the screen in Nvidia control panel and display properties. Trying to activate them here results in "Do you want to keep these setting?" Clicking yes or no takes me back to the screen with no change in setting. Same from display settings.

So far it does not seem possible to get the monitor working over DVI using nvidia drivers in Vista

I don't think it is a hardware problem as
-Works fine with DVI in Windows XP SP3
-Monitor worked ok with old computer(FX5700LE) using XPSP3 over DVI
-Monitor worked ok with old computer(FX5700LE) using Kubuntu 8.04 over DVI

I have tried three driver version
178.13
177.98 (suggested as possibly working)
169.32 (supplied with card)
removing drivers in safe mode and using driver cleaner pro.

Computer Specs:
Core2Duo E7200
Asus P5QL-PRO
Asus 8600GT 512Mb
Monitor Acer AL2216W sd

Most like the sound card you have is not compatible with Windows Vista. You need to check the manufacturers website to see if there is any patch for Windows Vista

I can't install may scanner on windows 7 64bit

If you just got a new computer that happens to be windows 7 64 bit, and you've had this scanner for some time. That would be the reason why the scanner won't install, as the disc that came with it is out of date. I checked Canon's driver website if you (canon.com > support > selected your model > drivers and support) and it looks like there are no windows 7 64 bit drivers available. However there are two things you can try.
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_3200f#DriversAndSoftware Go to that site, and download + install the windows 7 drivers, if they don't work you can use the windows Vista 64 bit drivers. Vista drivers and 7 drivers operate very similarly, so if the regular 7 drivers do not work, once again find where it says Vista x64.
Good luck!

Cannot installed nvidia software.

You can only install the x64 version of Vista if you have a 64-bit processor. Most hardware does not currently have 64-bit drivers. Vista x64 does not support 16-bit software. Very little x64 software currently exists.

Can't install drivers

This means you are using Vista x64, the 64-bit version.
It accepts only drivers which are signed by microsoft.
Make sure you are downloading 64-bit drivers instead of 32-bit.
According to this article, Belkin supports the signed drivers.
If there are no 64-bit drivers they will come available soon...
