i have 2 removable drives, i have 1 DVD ROM and 1 CD Writer. Earlier, i removed my CD Writer and replaced it with my newly purchased DVD Writer. However, when i opened My Computer, only the floppy drive is displayed under the Devices with Removable Storage category. I tried scanning for hardware changes under device management and at the lower right screen of the taskbar, windows detected that there is a newly found hardware but it prompted me that there is a problem when installing the new hardware, your new hardware might not work properly. Then i rebooted and still i can't see my 2 DVD Roms under My Computer. I rebooted again then there is this DVD Drive E: detected, then rebooted and it's gone again, this randomly happens. Sometimes this Drive E: is detected sometimes it's not. Please do help me...
you need to set the dvd writer to slave (or cable select if thats how your cd rom is set) at the back of the writer next to the power. There should be a diagram on the device or most certainly in the manual to show you which pins to set.
