ive been trying to burn discs after being away from my pc for a long long time and now anytime i put a cd in the drive or a writeable cd it just blinks for like 2 mins and then stops the computer recognizes the drive but its not reading the discs or something please help me out...

- MY drive is Matshita UJ-85JS, and is a slot in DVD Drive, on a Lenovo Notebook. Initially it was burning very well. After the end of one year, it stopped burning. It would blink for a few minutes, then eject the disc saying that "Burning Failed" and a "Medium error" help window opens up. This problem routinely occurs while trying to burn DVD's. With data CD's, it burns the discs, but only when selecting a lower write speed. If the "Maximum Speed" is selected, it burns the CD's upto some 14%, then ejects the CD's. I have lost many CD's and DVD's this way, and am still unable to burn discs. Please HELP ME!- MaxBangFeb 11, 2008

- My burner will recognize some blank CD's and not others. The one's it recognizes can only be played on the computer or dvd player, not new car or other cd players. the burner sounds asi if it running slower.- brikadee44Best Solution

you can also try changing out the ide cable but try the other suggestion of the other post first.
