Can you help me with this problem, which is a subSet of a larger problem and verify that I'm seeing what I'm seeing in results?

Thanks,

There are 32 subsets you can find for the set {221,236,245,151, 311}

There is one subset with zero elements, five subsets with one element each, ten subsets with two elements, ten subsets with three elements, five subsets with four elements, and one subset with all five elements. That's thirty-two subsets total.

This is your homework. I'll let you do the rest.

How may subsets can we form in (a,b,c,d)

When forming subsets, you have to see how many possible combinations can be made out of your data. Let's say we'll call your subset "Set". For each element of your data (a, b, c, d), we can form two possibilities. Either a is in the Set, or a is not in the set. Either b is in the set, or b is not in the set, and so on. Because each element has two options, you can count the total number of subsets as 2^4 (2*2*2*2). This is the same as writing each subset out manually (a), (b), (c), (d), (ab), (bc), and so on. This will also include the set (abcd) and () <empty set. So the answer you're looking for is 2^4, or 16.

We use the symbol ? to mean "is a subset of" and the symbol ? to mean "is not a subset of".

The subsets of D are { },{ a},{ b},{ c},{d },{x },{ y}
{bc },{bd},{bx},{by}
{cd},{cx},{cy}
{dx},{dy}
{xy}

What are the subsets of a line

A ray is a subset of a line which has one endpoint and extends only in one direction. The segment is the subsets of a line that have 2 endpoints.

Each point on the line, any set of point, sets of points and line segments, of points and rays etc are also subsets.
Subsets Defined
• Subsets are an important part of mathematics in general, but they are especially important to geometry. In mathematics, a subset is a piece of something larger. For example, a piece of pie is a subset of the entire pie. Geometry deals specifically with shapes, making subsets an important idea to the field. Mathematicians use subsets to simplify complex problems by investigating the smaller parts of the problem one by one and connecting the pieces to determine a solution.
Subset of Rays
• A ray is a part of a line that starts at one point and extends infinitely in a set direction. A ray is different from a line because it has a starting point or origin, and extends infinitely from there. In contrast, a line extends infinitely in two opposite directions. So a ray that starts on a line and continues in one direction on the line is a subset of the line.
Subset of Line Segments
• A line segment begins at one point and ends at another. They are important because they make the mathematics of lines more manageable. Unlike a ray or a line, line segments are finite; they do not stretch to infinity in either direction. Line segments that share the starting
Line segments are small pieces of a larger line.
• point, ending point and all points in the middle with a given line make up a subset of that line.
