Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5500 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have bought two of these ESP-3 printers in the last year with the same result! Neither of them ever get thru the first stages of set-up per their instructions. First printer returned for refund after two weeks of working with it. Bought second one a week ago along with new computer, same result. Steps state to remove all the tape inside the machine, install the printhead, install both ink cartridges, power up and let it go thru all it's monkey motion then wait for the "no paper light to flash"! This never happens. I get a "C" flashing in the LCD display which is supposed to indicate that it needs calibration. I then insert paper into the printer as stated, press the "copy/resume" button and it is supposed to print out a calibration sheet, ie, waste ink! It goes thru all the motions of printing but spits out blank sheet of paper. I have given up on Kodak tech help from El Salvador or wherever it is. I find it hard to believe that I have received two bad printers in a row, something else is wrong and it is in the instructions on the sequence of operations I think? I had to click on the Easy Share 5500 printer to get this message sent. My printer is the ESP-3! Please help!!! Regards, Dennis.
I have severe and often different problems with my Kodak ESP-3 printer. Sometime it`s banding of the colors, then I`ll align the printhead and I`ll have a color problem or no color at all. I just talked to Kodak Customer Service by phone, 11 a.m. PST. After a few automated questions I had a live operator in less than 3 minutes. The service tech went thru some diagnostic steps with me and the printer and after about the 5th step determined I had a faulty printer head. If the green on/off light keeps blinking when it shouldn`t be, that is a sure sigh of faulty printer head, it means the printer is not recognizing the head. Kodak seems to be very aware of this problem and are sending me a new printer head UPS, free of charge. After reading some previous reviews I`m suprised how good the customer service was. Maybe I just called at the right time and got lucky.

Yes contact Kodak as you may have faulty printhead, I purchased a brand new 5500 AIO and out came blank paper I got in touch with Kodak, they sent me a new printhead, both ink tanks and sample photo paper all Free and by overnight air. Think Kodak knows a lot of faulty printheads out,so contact them.

FYI The printheads that were manufactured for the kodak printers were in a factory in America when they realised the printheads were getting too hot. As a result over half the printheads they produced do not work thus the amount of well known problems with the 5100, 5300, ESP3.
The only way to fix the problem is to contact Kodak and they will send a new one to you along with a free set of inks as a kind of compensation.

To remove the old printhead, you need to remove the ink cartridges first. And then remove the printhead by pushing the button at the top of the printhead while disengaging it from the carrier.

Remove both cartriges and on the top left there will be a button. Push and remove the printhead. Net, take the new one and insert it, pushing on the thumb picture. Reinsert cartriges and align.

I had the same experience with Kodak when I called to get help with my printer. The tech was extremely hard to understand. After several times of trying to get assistance that I could understand, he hung up on me.I finally got them to send me an additional cartridge to replace the ink I had used trying to remedy the problem. I contacted the company and explained what happened. They have not even tried to contact me.Now it's doing it again. I'm finished with Kodak. I'll just take my chances with another company. Hopefully they will appreciate my business which Kodak obviously doesn't.
