Toner drive won't turn new toner cartridge

I have tried two new high capacity toner cartridges and the drive won't turn them. It clicks and I believe it is designed to slip and click instead of burning out the motor. The gears don' t appear to be stripped. Are the high capacity cartridges harder to turn than the lower capacity ones with less ink? The machine cycles thru without a problem without a cartridge installed. I had no problem with the OEM low capacity cartridge. Thank you.

I was able to find and repair the problem. A shaft with shoulders fits into a thimble which engages and drives the cartridge. The shoulders wore away or were defective. The clicking I heard was the shoulders trying to engage the thimble. I had to purchase a frame L drive unit which is expensive and deep in the machine. It was beyond my expertise but I can only say I was lucky and everything went back together without too many left over screws and it works well. I was able to get the service manual but even with that the repair was sketchy. I had to buy quite a large part in order to replace that small defective part. Compared with the cost of a comparable replacement machine the repair was worth it though.

The TN-570's work equally well as the 540's so that's not the problem.  The ink is incredibly fluid in its dry powder form and wouldn't make turning with the torque ratio in the machine even notice a difference. Double check that you have the right number replacements and if refilled from an outside source I'd bet its either wrong ones or bad copies.  Best to you.

2300dl toner problems

Unfortunalely printers and there drivers estimate toner life buy counting the amount of dots draws on the pages. Say a cartridge is rated for 3000000 dots when new, the printer will know after printing 1500000 dots that the cartridge is about half full. If you replace a cartridge the printer will assume it's new as the ID tag will be different from the last cartridge. There really isn't any way of modifying or specifying the age of a cartridge. You will just have to keep using it until you start seeing drop outs on the page, then you will know it is almost empty. Shaking it a few times will usualy help stretch the life of a cartridge.

Just purchased a used HP LaserJet 4 Plus -- when turned on and installed it is showing 14 no EP CART -- we do not use cartridges so need to reset to default settings. Tried Power On and holding online but...

Ensure that the Toner Cartridge is installed correctly (fully
seated into the printer). Try a new Toner Cartridge. If the
problem continues, try this

14 NO EP CART Message

The printer detects the presence of the Toner Cartridge and the
level of toner present in the cartridge through the condition of the
ANTIN signal. The ANTIN signal becomes part of the serial data
stream used to communicate with the DC Controller (see Figure
7-5 for cartridge components). Troubleshoot the 14 NO EP CART
(or INSTALL TONER CARTRIDGE) message as follows:
1 Reseat the Toner Cartridge. Try a new or known good Toner
Cartridge.
2 Check the High Voltage Contacts for damage. If the contacts
are dirty or damaged, clean the contacts after the repair.
3 Replace the High Voltage Power Supply.
4 Check and reseat the HVPS cable.
5 Replace the DC Controller.

I have followed the instructions exactly for replacing the black toner cartridge on my Magicolor 2300 DL, but i still have the error message "Replace Toner Black." I tried taking out the cartridge and...

If you have changed the toner cartridge, the printer must complete a calibration cycle (up to 150 seconds). If you open the door before the Ready indicator on the control panel lights up and the Error indicator turns off, the printer stops and repeats the calibration cycle.

1. Open the Status Display (double-click on Status Display icon in the system tray on the lower right-hand portion of the task bar, OR click Start/Programs/KONICA MINOLTA magicolor 2300W Utilities/KONICA MINOLTA magicolor 2300W Status), and then check which toner color is empty.
2. From the Print menu choose Toner Replace...
3. In the Color list box, select the color of the toner cartridge to be replaced (CYAN, MAGENTA, YELLOW, or BLACK).
4. Select the capacity of the new toner cartridge (1500 or 4500).
5. Click OK.
6. When the toner indicator on the control panel starts flashing, open the printer's front door. The carousel is automatically repositioned so that the appropriate toner cartridge can be removed.
2300-0.gif 7. Insert your thumb and index finger into the two holes in the front of the toner cartridge, and then pull the cartridge straight out about 6" (15 cm).
2300-1.gif8. Support the middle of the cartridge with your left hand, and then pull out the cartridge.
2300-2.gif9. Remove the new toner cartridge from its shipping carton.
10. Remove the protective cover clearly marked 'Remove'.
Each toner cartridge has a colored end that corresponds to a color inside the cartridge slots. Always install the toner cartridge in the slot of the same color.

Is there a override function to keep printing when toner alerts are on?Wondering since black still shows 30%.

These printers will still print when any or all of the toners are LOW, but if any one of them is EMPTY (according to the chip on the toner cartridge) printing stops.

Standard capacity toners ere 2000 page for the colours, and 3000 page for the black, so they can soon be used up.

Much cheaper per page printed, if you use the high capacity cartridges (6000 page for the colours, and 8000 page black).

There are high quality remanufactured cartridges available now, as good as OEM, and typically you'll get a Hi Capacity Remanufactured cartridge for the same sort of price as a Std Capacity OEM cartridge.

As a short term solution at a lower cost than replacement cartridges, you could just replace the cartridge CHIP. The printer would then think the toner was full (there'll likely to still be some toner in it), so you'll be able to print. Don't run the printer like this for ever though, as the toner has some lubricant properties, and with a TRULY EMPTY cartridge, you'll eventually do some damage to the cartridge, and then possibly the transfer belt (and you don't want to be changing that until it's rated 100,000 page life is up.

Toner Capacity

This does not need to be done. there is a chip/fuse built into the toner that basically tells the printer how many paes that toner has printed in its life time. no adjustment is needed it is all automatic
