Hi again,

It would seem you posted twice.

FixYa is a community of volunteer techs that provide repair solutions. It is not affiliated with any particular brand or manufacturer. A number of its members though are from the Philippines.

Pls post back the brand and model of your laptop and a short description as to what is probably wrong with it. You could also include your general location in Metro Manila as some are likewise in the same general area.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Sorry 1129Texas, the initial post was meant for another thread/problem.

    To your concern, pls try:

    • unplug the Gateway desktop;

    • see if you can open the casing and reset the CMOS/BIOS (jumper method) or remove the Lithium coin type battery temporarily;

    • Leave unit at such condition for say 15 minutes;

    • restore jumper and/or memory battery and plug back the unit and try again.
    Would appreciate postback for results/updates.

    Cheers.

Power light blinking on nv53a gateway

Your Gateway laptop comes with a series of LED lights that alert you to the state of your computer. You'll notice there are blue, purple and red lights that either blink or display solidly. Each light, blinking or solid, has a different meaning. The blue blinking light on your laptop indicates that it is in Standby mode. Your laptop goes into Standby when you close its lid without shutting down the computer. To turn this light off, you'll need to take the computer out of Standby mode, and if you want to ensure that the blinking blue light does not return, shut down the computer after each use.

Open the lid of your Gateway laptop and press the power button. Once Windows loads, enter your password if required. The blue light will no longer be blinking because the computer is no longer in Standby mode. Shut the laptop off when you finish using it rather than simply closing the lid to stop the blue light from blinking again. Click "Start" from your Windows desktop and click "Shut down." Change your computer's power settings to keep if from going into Standby mode when you close the lid if you'd rather not shut down your computer every time you use it. Click "Start" and click "Control Panel." Click "System and Security" and then click "Power Options." Click "Choose what closing the lid does" from the list of options on the left side of the window. Select "Hibernate" from the drop-down lists under "On Battery" and "Plugged In." Click "Save Changes." Your laptop will now bypass Standby mode when you close the lid and it will enter Hibernate mode instead. Hope it helps.

Gateway fpd 1530says

If you see a message box that says "Power Saving Mode" after pressing the power button, then it simply means that the monitor/display is not detecting the computer. Check the connection/cable between the display and the computer and make sure your computer is not in standby mode by moving your mouse.
From what you stated in your problem, you dont need a inverter or a bulb. If you have any image like the message box displayed then its working fine. It just isnt seeing any signal changes on the input and therefore goes into power saving mde. Try another cable or hook it up to a different computer to check the cable.

My Gateway laptop shuts off after five minutes. I

Hi there.
There is probably dust trapped in the air vents and around the CPU fan, the best way to clear it is to turn the machine off, get a can of compressed air and give short blast through the air vents.
The CPU fan is usually located under the laptop and give a couple of blasts through that too.
Once your happy that all the dust is removed you can turn the laptop on again and it should stay on for much longer.
The cooling pad won't make any difference if the issue is dust.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!
