T.V. would take about an hour to warm up.

Took about an hour to warm up then would be fine for awhile then it would flicker if i turned it off then back on it would usually bring the pic back then i heard and smelt the snap from the back which i figure is the flyback from what i have read could that be the whole problem with the flickering and how long it takes to warm up?

WS-55311 rear projection turns off on own after an hour

It sounds like the fans used by the manufacturer are either clogged or not moving much air. Have you checked the filters? Is the fan under the lamp working? Is the unit fan (on the rear) turning?...or is it one dirty mess? If so, a good cleaning is in order for both the unit and the fans. It does indeed sound like thermal overload somehow or other.

Zig zagged and flickering screen

The surface mount capacitors in a module called the Hyper Board have gone bad. The repair is fairly extensive in that the board must be desolderd from the chassis and then taken apart and all the electrolytic capacitors must be changed. The task is time consuming and not for a do-it-yourselfer. The average repair cost would run around $250.00.

Toshiba 42H81 - Screen flicker

Since the problem initially would correct itself, it suggests a poor connection somewhere that "heat" would resolve. If you can solder, try resoldering any joints that appear to be grainy or have rings. Please note that these sets will retain high voltages that can be dangerous even when unplugged. If the resoldering fails to resolve the problem, let us know and we'll look further.

Toshiba TP48E60 Projection Television

This problem was reported in many user reviews of Toshiba projection TVs when I was researching prior to buying my 42H83. I took a chance anyway and have not had the problem It was apparently a bad circuit board in some models. To avoid a service call, why not just leave the set turned on, which most professionals recommend. The hardest thing on modern electronics is the heating and cooling cycles caused by turning them on and off. I leave all my A/V gear ON at all times. With the TV, just make sure you shut off the picture source when you're not watching to extend the life of the RGB tubes. Hope this helps or at least saves you some money. John
