I got this error message when I startup my laptop ------------------ SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 0: TOSHIBA MK6025GAS-(PM)
WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent
Press F1 to Contiune ------------------
The question is do I really need to replace another Hard disk since it still working fine or are there any way that I can fix this problem? And what causes this problem?
-   I have the same error on my Acer Aspire 5100 laptop except I CANNOT get it to go all the way through startup. I've been trying to start in safe mode or last stable time, but it just won't finish booting. It also makes a very loud beeping noise when you touch a key at this point. Help!!! :)

SMART is a very clever technology Ive come across this error 3 times (all on laptops, fujitsu, toshiba, Mac Powerbook), i have never been able to fix it but i have made a bit of progress. So basically your hard drive is telling you that its time on this earth is coming to an end. Heres what you can do (and you better do it fast):
1. Backup everything, drivers, documents, media, whatever to another hard drive or CD's (or DvD's)
2. download active SMART it uses SMART, and its like taking your HD to a doctor whos going to tell you how its going to die.
3. If your warranty is not yet void take it to the repair shop. This is like giving your laptop a risky surgical procedure.
sorry about the medical allegories, ive been reading up on my biology =)

I have a Acer Ferrari 3200 with UJ-825S Combo DVD+CDRW broken and I would like to replace it. I found the UJ-825-C to replace it, but I don't know if it's compatible. Do you know if it's?

I have a new HP 9827 that has a short right shift key. I understand that one can modify the MS Vista code to get the uparrow to swap out the shift key.
