As of the Mac 10.5.5, there is no print center in HD>applications>utilities. The only way you can access a similar feature is going apple>system preferences>print and fax and add a printer through there.

I've been scanning to my computer w/ my cannon mp240 and suddenly cannot. It still scans and prints and prints from my computer, but the scanning to computer has stopped. I have a MAC and it's worked...

The printer drivers for the MP240 are intergrated in the Mac OS X.
If software for your printer was included with the Mac OS X installation, check the printer manufacturer's website for updated versions. Install a printer driver available from the manufacturer's website only if it is a newer version than the one included with Mac OS X.

Repair disk permissions

Tip
: For more information about Repair Disk Permissions and Mac OS X v10.2, v10.3 or later, see "About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature".
  • Mac OS X v10.3 or later: Open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/). Select your Mac OS X startup volume in the column to the left of the Disk Utility window, then click the Repair Disk Permissions button.
  • Mac OS X v10.2 through 10.2.8: Open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/). Select your Mac OS X startup volume in the column to the left of the Disk Utility window, then click the First Aid tab. Click the Repair Disk Permissions button.
  • Mac OS X v10.1.5: Update to Mac OS X 10.1.5 if you have not already, then use the Repair Privileges Utility. See "Mac OS X: About the Repair Privileges Utility 1.1".

Reset printing system (Mac OS X v10.4 and later)
If other steps haven't helped, you can reset the printing system. Important: This should only be used as a "last resort" when troubleshooting a printing issue.

Blank screen with blinking folder

This is a sign that the startup disk can't be found.

When you power on the computer, try holding down the "alt" key or "option" key on your keyboard.

Then after a while, it should ask you to select the location of the operating system. Select your macintosh HD. Everything should load as normal.

If this doesn't work, insert the install cd's and hold down "c" instead. This will load the cd with mac os x on it. You can then install the operating system. Please make sure you have backups. Unless the option to simply upgrade or repair your mac pops up, you will loose your files following this method.

LPR (line printer remote) is a platform independent printing protocol that is associate with TCP/IP. It works by using LPR client software that communicates to a server running LPR services.

In terms of PSU, LPR printing will become the basis for all network printing while Novell print queues are phased out. Therefore, all Macintosh, Windows, and Unix computers will be configured to print through LPR.

3.Now open up the Print Center
4.If you have no printers installed you will see the following screen. Click on Add.
5.On the following screen, select LPR printing.
6.Now enter printhost.oit.pdx.edu for the LPR Printer's address.
7.Uncheck Use Default Queue on Server option and enter the queue name of the printer.
8.Select the printer model.
9.The completed settings should be similar to the following:

Printer

Which OS do you have 10.4 or 10.5?

To add printers in 10.5 go to your system preferences and you will see a Printer & Fax icon. This is where you add printers.

In 10.4 go to your applications folder and then into your Utilities folder. There is Printer Utility application where you can add printers from there.
