Common problem with this model is bad solder connections on the coils in the power supply. With good eyes or (for me) a magnifying glass, looking at the bottom of the circuit board will reveal the culprit.
Easy fix.

Emachines e191w tft lcd flat panel monitor

you might try going into the display settings and making sure that first, your resolution is set correctly for the monitor and secondly that all the settings to put the screen to sleep or hibernate after so many minutes is set to never on both battey powered and wall powered.

I have a emachine and I have tried to get rid of the bar but it continues to reappear.

Is it a black or multicolered bar that runs across the screen? You cant fix that. The monitor is defective and needs to be returned or trashed. You will need a new one.

Screen just went black, power light on; is there any easy fix or should I trash monitor?

Try disconnecting the video source; most monitors will inform you of the missing signal by putting a warning box on the screen if they are functional. Before ditching it, I would try connecting the monitor to another computer or borrowing a monitor to make sure your internal video source is working.

Screen turned black

your monitor got a hardware problem:
1) the LVDS controler board out of work, only change or repair it could be fixed.
2) if you can see some show like smaller signal detect windows in the centre of screen a very short time (bright flashing one time), this is inverter board damaged or worn lamps, thay all need repair or replace
hope give you some idea. please take a rating let me know how much helped you thanks!

Manufacturer out of business. Local repair shops want more $ to fix than the cost of a new one.
Solution --- Trash old and replace with new display.

Sceptre X7G-Naga VI

My problem sounds equivelant: The problem is that it will power down after 15 minutes, then take 1/2 hour or more to power back up!I believe I have solved my problem with my X7G! I remember seeing a direction on the only direction papaer I got with it that told me to Turn off ALL POWER SAVING WINDOWS SETTINGS! I think the monitor is set to care for all the monitor/power saving itself. I am going to try it and will get back to you, or just try it yourselfs!

Hp monitor vs 19v

For those with HP vs19 monitors. I had the same problem of the monitor ceasing to work after less than 2 years. In desperation before trashing it, I did some research on forums and found someone who boldly tried to fix it himself since it was dead anyway. I sent my monitor and this person's solution to a friend who is a repair man and the info was right on the money.

It appears that HP is using capacitors that burn out too fast. There are 3 capacitors on the board inside the monitor that were oozing brown gunky stuff. When he replaced the capacitors the monitor worked fine. My repair guy opened my monitor (which took a bit of prying gently all the way around several times as it just snaps on) and found the same goopy capacitors in mine. He replaced the 10v ones with 35v ones and the monitor now works fine. The total cost to me for the 3 capacitors at Radio Shack and his labor was $30. I am so glad I didn't give up and just trash the monitor. Hope this helps. I would not attempt to fix this myself but by taking it to someone you know that fixes computers and asking specifically for them to check that problem might save you lots of big bucks....

I think it's busted

you need to open the case and check the capacitors and if they seem doomed or color is leaking then replace the bad ones that should stabilize the power to the vertical ic chip
