The part you are talking about is a compressor start relay. Type in "LG refrigerator compressor start relay" in ebay and it will pull up a picture. The compressor is extremely silent so you might need to put your hand on the bottom part of it, the top gets hot, and you should be able to feel when it kicks on (ever so slightly). You should be able to take a volt meter to this part to see if it is putting the 120V to the compressor.

Ac not working, air compressor clutch not engaging

Hi Adeyeri

Keep in mind that the Clutch won't engage for a few safety reasons.

Temperature inside vehicle
Temperature of compressor or pipes
Pressure inside pipes
Compressor jambed
Eg It's out of refrigerant Gas

You can momentarily engage the clutch by simply giving it +12v to the wire attached to clutch. Usually has a connector close by.
If it has a Relay (click) in fuse box
You can by pass it with a jumper

A quick engage & disengage should allow you to detect possible problem.
But don't over ride the built in safety for more than about a minute.

Hope this Helps

Ac won't get cold anymore power to compressor but won't click on clutch won't engage possible problems are compressor or evaporator what do you think?

Has the Freon been checked with a gauge to see if there is enough Freon to allow the system to work. Low or no Freon will not allow the compressor to engage. The low pressure switch is most likely activated due to low freon, and will cause this condition.

The ice maker stopped working a year after we purchased. I was told the motor went bad and I need a new one...the spring on the door is broken too...what to do? Will Whirlpool fix it since my home owner...

Yes seeing how your unit is only a year old your unit would still be under warranty if you bought the extension as long as you bought the unit new and not from a second hand or scratch and dent type of business in which if you did then you would have to call them for the warranty. If you bought the unit at lowes on the other hand there is only a one year warranty on the unit so it depends exactly how long ago you purchased the unit and from where. If you have any further questions message me back Thanks Rick

Clutch broke on a/c compressor and installed a used one. took it to get charged but still wont work. they said the compressor wouldnt turn. or it may be a fuse but i dont know where the fuse for it is.

If you have no owners manual, can't find fuses or bulbs,
your done.

If they tried to turn the compressor & it is frozen, you
need a new one. Did you try & turn it with a socket?

Does the clutch engage when you power it directly?

Compressor not working

Please check the power feeds to compressor. Use Voltmeter to diagnostic the power. If the power there check the capacitor for malfunction. A defective capacitor usually dented or deformed. Otherwise need to change the compressor with new one

Air conditioner compressor not turning on bought a new compressor last year it is full of freon/the new stuff

hopefully when they regassed it with the new freon they put dye in the system if the gas has leaked out somewhere slowly this will stop the compressor from working as the have a back pressure release valve, when the pressure isnt high enough the compressor will not engage. you may need to take it in to have them check the pressure in your system.

1997 Buick Lesabre no power to the ac

that would be a good suggestion. the guy probably do not know what he is talking about.

on another thought, from where you buy them, dont they have a way to test what you are buying if it is good or bad?

original problem : no power going to the compressor.

solution: test first if there is refrigerant. there is a pressure switch in the system that would prevent the compressor form engaging.
there is a fuse that would break in case you have a faulty coil.
there is an ac relay that could break anytime.
and so many more......

the last thing to replace is the climate control....

tnx 4 using fixya,
