I have the same problem. Seems to be when the machine over heats because the filter needs changing, Once filter has been cleaned you still can't use the Vac till it cools down, some times up to 1/2 an hour. Might as well get a good book to read. Not much help if your in a hurry. As filters get older they need cleaning more frequently so better to replace with new which cost around $50Au. Very expensive Lemon.

Hi , where is the light located on the machine(I.E. canister or power brush ?)
Is the vacuum functioning or has it shut down?
The most likely cause is either an obstruction in the power brush , wand or hose.
Next would be an over full bag or , in the event of a bag less vacuum, overly dirty filters.
Let me know how it goes OK?

My model is ZB 2943. I have found a site detailing how to replace the batteries with a bunch of AA batteries. But the problem is that my model has different type of batteries, they are slightly larger in size than an AA battery. Not sure what voltage are they because they are wrapped in a plastic wrapper (sort of).

Inside ,the dust collection container, there at the far end is a white cone shape (another filter). I think you may find this covered in lint etc and if you reach in with your hand you can just pull the stuff off. Happened to me around the two month mark and I THINK, so far, so good. My machine is now not switching off and flashing lights at me and the suction is back to fabulous. Found this information on another obsure website. You would think electrolux would mention it in their "Troubleshooting Guide" GOOD LUCK

The white cover which houses the cone filter can be removed from the dust collection container for easy cleaning.

Look inside the dust collection container and clean the white cone which gets clogged especially after de-clogging the filters.

My Electrolux Rapido wet&dry won't start. The battery is empty and the blue light flashes when I plug in the charger.

this sounds totally silly but is the power button on the vacuum actually off? Had the same problem, where the battery was completely empty i didn't know my son had switched the vacuum on put it on charge and the light was flashing. I took it off the charging stand pressed the power button then put it back....now charging perfectly. Anyone who doesnt have this appliance will think you sound stupid but its just a clicky button so visually the button looks the same on or off.

Repairing contacts in Electrolux Z8240 handle

Hi There, Alec From VacuumSpot here. I work as a vacuum technician and unfortunately I am the bearer of bad news the handle is not really repairable. Even in warranty Electrolux allowed us to simply swap the hose over in favour of any repair. If you need to buy a new Z8240 hose the part number is 1131404541.

The vacuum won't turn on. plugged in, all lights flashing. no power

When switched on the vacuum goes through a self diagnosis test. Lights will come on for a while, then go out. If everything is okay, then the blue "Optimum" light will come on and stay on. If it turns of, a red indicator light should come on providing information on what's needed; i.e., filter or bag change needed.

Electrolux Z8240 Cyclonic Bagless Vacuum Cleaner

Be sure to check the hose , wands and power brush for obstructions as well.
If there's a burning hair electrical odor then it might be toast.
i despise bagless vac's as they always wind up being more maintenance and expence then bagged vac's.

Good Luck and let me know what you find out.
