No, they are not the same at all. The F1 had a drop in screen in its own frame that you installed with the finder off the camera. The AE-1P used a single piece screen that installed from the front through the mirror area.

Canon 50D. Hi, When I look through the viewfinder the top edge appears fuzzy. There is no problem with with the actual pics.

The focus screen might be loose.
Here's a video about focus screens. Maybe you can adjust it.

Canon Powershot SD1000: LCD screen display

Hopefully you resolved this already. If not, push the "DISP." button left of the MENU button. Pushing it gives you three options: black (for discreet shooting so your LCD doesn't give garner dirty looks from fellow concert goers), liveview, and liveview with info overlayed (shooting mode, ISO, etc.). Good luck!

I have a Canon SD300...it will power on just fine, and the image screen will focus, but when I try to take a pic it just freezes (not black) and will not take the pic.

Maybe lens needs adjustment. The info on this page may help. Copy and paste this link for more info.

Adjust focus

Focus adjust is located on the neck board or on the Flyback transformer, another fault is dirty spark gap inside the CRT socket
